This is a comparison of apples to oranges. The depth charts at the linebacker position (LSU) and the safety position at Bama are two different stories. Collins comes in behind two players, one of which played a significant amount last year. LSU, on the other hand, didn't return the SAM or WILL linebackers. Kwon would have been in the rotation at LB'er at Bama as well, but behind two older players. In fact, he'd be in the same situation Denzel Devall out of Bastrop plays this season.
No, not really. I was looking at LSU losing two of the three starting linebackers from last year though. As to taking John Chavis' word—his word at what? Has he said Kwon came out better than Landon because of the school he chose to attend? Your question was who came out ahead and to answer that you have to consider both schools, players, respective positions, and depth charts. Which, as I believe, is a comparison that can't be made. I'd dare say Chavis hasn't said anything related to "Kwon came out better" or much less even given Landon more than a seconds thought this season.
Bringing up Denzel had nothing to do with a comparison to Kwon as far as talent is concerned. It was an example used in terms of where he would fit in the rotation—which is pretty much exactly what I said. There's no need to try to read something between the lines of a post I make. If something is on my mind I'll say it. There's no need to insinuate anything. I have no issues with Saban's assessment or the defensive development of linebackers and it's apparent neither do teams in the league. A discussion of whether or not Miles and Chavis wanted Devall would be nothing more than wasted bandwidth at this point. The notion Miles and Chavis didn't pursue Devall is, well, interesting.
I thought Trev would have been a good on if he had remained at LSU his senior season, but yea, Bradie is really the only one isn't he?
