Even tho he seems fully healed and in a rhythm, cpm is still gonna have to consider a possibility of reinjury and not overthrow AR.
I voted "other" because....stirring the pot.....maybe Ott should start in order to get over his jitters and find the strike zone. He's the only LSU pitcher that hasn't regained his confidence. I know that Matty Ott is still the same confident closer that he was last year and I think he needs to just get back on that horse that threw him (his only start). He can be relieved after he pitches a couple of successful innings and doesn't need to be depended on for a long stretch of pitching now that the other starters have come around. Pitching a couple of successful innings as a starter could be just the thing to bring him around like the other pitchers. This would be like the reverse of using him as a closer and if his start is limited to a couple of innings, he'd be available as the closer in the rest of the games and the real starter could come in and maybe finish the game so we could save our middle relievers. I know this is outside the box thinking, but so was starting Alsup.
I think you go Ross. We need to win this first game and he's pitched well of late. So has Alsup, but I think Ross would give us the better chance right now. He got good experience last year in our CWS run. We really need our ace for UCLA, assuming it gets there. Also, if we lose the first game then you obviously go to Ranaudo anyway.

This. I want Ross to pitch the first game so that Ranaudo has more rest after pitching for 3 innings on 3 days rest.
cpm said theyd like to give ar 1 more days rest, so decent chance itll be ross. hopefully it depends mostly on the matchups. anyone know of a good cbb numbers-crunching site?
i thought of that when i mentioned not over pitching him. we need all arms healthy, but that (imo) is THE arm cpm cant take any chances with, especially after the early season problems.
The fact is we have no gguy that has pitched like an ace with any consistency this year. I think you have three legit candidates to start against Irvine. At this point I am inclined to throw the most rested arm. So, I vote Ross.
