Who is No.1 candidate on the Gator fans' wish list? Any names different than those already mentioned?

Wow, I just realized that within a year, Florida lost their head coach and both the offensive and defensive coordinators within a year. Talk about dismantling the possible number one college football program from the top down !!

So far, I've been thinking of how Meyer's resignation affects the SEC and our eastern division but if you think that Kiffen must be gloating right now...how do you think Jimbo Fisher and Randy Shannon are feeling right now?

The implications affecting Miami and Florida State may be greater than those affecting the SEC.

   .

Lane Kiffin isn't the only SEC coach who is salivating over the prospect of grabbing some of this years Florida top recruits. Right now is the time for former Gaytor recruiting coordinator Billy Gonzales to start really earning his LSU paycheck. Nick Saban is probably awake right now figuring out how many of those guys he can grab.

Ron Zook maybe?? Just kidding, but maybe a Ron Zook lookalike. If I were an established coach with a good program going, I wouldn't touch the Florida job. Expectations too high and he would never measure up.

One other candidate might be Mike Leach.

Dan Mullen, Mississippi St's head coach, is being mentioned as a possibility. I don't think he quite has the resume, but him & Harbrough at Stanford would be my top 2 candidates for LSU if we were looking for a coach.

Florida's AD, I would guess, has a propensity for going after candidates "from the same coaching tree" and if UM is involved, I would guess he'd try to go after guys he knew pretty well. Problem is many of "his" guys are very soon gone or just left. If you think about the "big name" candidates, and UF certainly has the $ to go after one, some of them like Kelly have already been taken, or are pretty entrenched and too comfortable (e.g., Stoops). You then go after the big "up and comers" that may be someone like TCU's coach, Harbaugh, Boise St's guy, maybe someone in the Utah or Ohio regions where coaching ties and philosophies might overlap with Meyer's. In any case, it's going to get VERY interesting soon in the SEC East. But, unlike others, I still don't think you have to worry about Tennessee and Kiffin and boyz. :hihi:

I've heard that Patterson is very comfortable at TCU and isn't looking to take his act to one of the major programs.

I think that Mullen is fool's gold. Yeah, State won a few games this year, but still didn't make it to a bowl and haven't convinced me that they've turned it around. I think the spread option is being figured out more and more by the year, and it's day will soon have come and gone.

If I were a UF fan, I would want Peterson. However, things have not worked out with Hawkins at Colorado. Everyone assumed that this meant that the success of Boise St. must have been attributed to Peterson rather than Hawkins, but how can you be sure? Maybe it's just that their style of coaching is dominant in a mid-major but doesn't work so great at a BCS school.

I think the only commodity out there who is proven at a major school is Tubberville. However, I've been secretly hoping that he would take over at LSU if/when Miles leaves, so I'd hate to see that. :D

I bet Andre' Debose is really kicking himself right now. No chance he'll transfer after already having to miss this entire year. In fact, I bet a lot of recruits are really pissed. They wanted to play in Urban's razzle-dazzle offense, and now they won't get that chance.
