Chad is invaluable and I imagine he will see the field as often as possible but I can't see Coleman losing his job to him. Miles' faith was in him when the chips were down in the NCG. And he performed quite well. Coleman could very well have more impact than Steltz did last year. He certainly is more athletic, faster, and his "nose for the ball" appears to be sharp as well.
I don't know how to explain this, because I don't want to slight Chad in any way. But he will be LSU's "utility infielder" in baseball terms. In that he is the primary backup at almost every secondary position, so he will play as much as a starter does, but won't actually start.
LSU has certainly had its share of good, hard-hitting safeties over the years. Steve Rehage was one them. He played when I was at LSU and he was always fun to watch, basically a concussion waiting to happen. I like Harry Coleman. He looks like a natural at the position.
I never ran into HatcherTiger because I was still in high school when he graduated. But I KNEW that TheDude looked familiar! As for the safety question. Coleman couldn't have been a better surprise in the BCSNCG; frankly, I'd never noticed him before then. If he can beat our Chad Jones, more power to him, but in Jones, I see a definite Laron Landry prototype.
