    Actually Bandit,

Miss. St. was the worst team in the SEC. They were 4-8. There was also three other teams with the same record as Arkansas in SEC play.

For his first start on the road with no running game, I think Jefferson did real well. He threw 2 nice tds, ran well and and had zero INTS. There was also 3or 4 dropped passes during the game. He also did other very important things like looking at more than one receiver, throwing in an actual pump fake (wow, there's a concept), etc.

To me, Lee did not show any progression toward the end of the season. His passes against Ole Miss were still dead ducks and he should have had more that were picked and taken to the house. The only thing Lee did well this year was get the play off in time, etc. He had some good moments, but he was way too streaky (in mostly a bad way). Hopefully he can improve, but I didn't see a lot of promise based on what I saw. Jefferson's passes were flat-out superior to Lee's in every way as far as I could see. The release might have been a little slow, but the passes were way better.

So basically because he didn't throw an interception that was returned for a touchdown, Jefferson is the best guy for the job is what I am reading from all of these threads.

Jefferson has done nothing to "earn" the start. Really, none of them have. Someone has to though. Personally, I'm for the guy who is least likely to turn the ball over because it seems like we usually win those games. However, our defense isn't strong enough to do that so the best guy to start is the guy who is the most capable passer.

Man, your perspective is questionable, and that's giving you the benefit of the doubt.

You do understand sacks count against your ypc on runs? JJ's running ability was outstanding in that game. Take out the negative carries due to sacks and you got a QB that is a true dual threat qb.

Huh:huh:, I guess im not understanding your post. Firs you begin with a bit of what I perceive as sarcasim. Then you say Jefferson has done nothing to earn the start.
But, you go on to say, the guy who is least likely to turn the ball over?

Could you clarfiy your post a bit, I dont want to assume.

think he was saying usually you would want the guy who is least likely to turn the ball over but because our defense sucks so bad we need a quarterback that is a gunslinger and can bring us back in case we go down by 2 or more touchdowns to start the game off, which i guess would be Lee.

But in some of those games, the reason we were down was because Lee threw int's early in the game. Granted some werent, but still who knows.

I still think JJ is the solid choice because he is a threat to run. Vs. Ole Miss our offense was running the option with Lee which was the most idiotic thing i have ever witnessed, i mean come on, i wonder where the ball is going? JJ is a leader, and he is an athlete and he has great arm strength. He struggled throwing on the run vs. Ark. He deserves just as much a chance to learn "in game" as Jarrett Lee did. Lee had his chance, he failed.

None of the three quarterbacks has separated himself this season. If all are healthy for the bowl game, Les is likely to play them all. It doesn't matter much who starts. But if Hatch really suffered a broken leg, then it's better to save him for the spring rather than risk re-injury in a meaningless bowl game. Jefferson can run, but Lee has shown he can shake off a bad play and pass us back into the game. I bet Les rotates those two and starts the redshirt.

By bad play you mean throwing a pick six, how about we try avoid that all together, so he doesnt have to shake it off.

Jefferson should start and finish, if he is playing well.

I see that you have annointed Jefferson the QB of the future. I do not, I think the job is clearly wide open. Jefferson is 0-2 as I see it. He did not bring us back against Ole Miss. He did not bring us back after a good 2nd quarter at Arkansas. He's entirely capable of throwing interceptions and has done so. His runs are predictable and he doesn't know the whole playbook yet.

With a spring and pre-season to design an offense around his skills, he could be very effective. But for this bowl game . . . the opponent will put 8 in the box to stop Scott and Jefferson and dare him to throw the ball. If he can't get it done with the pass then perhaps Lee can.

Passing yards per game = Lee 170 -- Jefferson 27
    Completion percentage = Lee 53% -- Jefferson 40%
    Passing efficiency = Lee 116 -- Jefferson 87

You can't win with a running quarterback in the SEC.

Red you are very much smarter than this post. I havent annointed Jefferson anything, I do believe he should be given a chance and more playing time. I also, said he should play the entire game if he is playing well. If hes not playing well, then yank him, Les probably wont do that since he didnt do it with Lee. Jefferson has thrown 1 int, that was off the hands of one of our receivers. Compare that to Lee since you want to compare stats without comparing equal time.
You see things quite differently, I see which is your right. However, you are comparing 6 exclusive quarters of Jefferson to most of the season with Lee. That is apples to oranges imo.

I believe you can win with a QB who can throw and run, SEC included. See Tim Tebow.

Yes, because Jefferson didn't throw one or two INTS. for 6 points, he should be the starter. That would be good enough for me to stop right there.

He did do something to earn the start - he played well. It's a prerequisite in my eyes for being named a starter. Again, it was his first start on the road in a hostile environment. 2 TDs, no INTS. and 50 yards rushing. We scored 30 points with almost no running game.

Lee didn't have 2 tds and no INTS. against any team this year no matter how bad the competition (Tulane, North Texas, Miss. St., etc.). Also, I think Lee has like -97 yards rushing for all games this season while Jefferson has 50 (in the positive) in just one game.

And Lee is definitely not the most capable passer as far as I can see. He can't even throw screens. It doesn't matter how far you might be able to throw the ball if your accuracy is almost non-existant. Besides, Jefferson's arm even looks better to me on the passing game that LSU uses. He rifles a lot of those balls out there (that's why they aren't as easy to intercept). Lee throws a lot of ducks. At this point in time, Jefferson has earned the start.
