Texas or OU? I am not asking who you think will be voted in later today. I am asking who you think DESERVES to go? Who has Texas and OU beat that is not a common opponent and is ranked? Texas = Missouri Oklahoma = TCU and Cincinnati Advantage Oklahoma. On the flipside, OU scheduled Div-II Chattanooga and Washington while Texas scheduled Rice, who ended up 9-3. So it's basically a wash. OU's SOS = 78-42 = .650 Opps' Opps = 733-675 = .5206 Texas' SOS = 84-49 = .632 Opps' Opps = 775-705 = .5236 Texas' only loss is to Texas Tech on the road on the last play of the game. OU's only loss was to Texas on a neutral field by 10 points. OU trounced Tech by 44 points.
OU should get the nod. Both TX and OU have struggled against opponents, but I think OU has a better all around talent pool. edit: The Tech/Texas game wasn't that cut and dry. Tech outplayed them and deserved that win. I watched the game, so I feel comfortable in my assessment. Graham Harrell is better than Colt McCoy at QB. Tech's D was a machine that night. The win was not a fluke but a hard fought battle between two well matched teams. I didn't see many OU games cuz we got all of the TX or SEC games.
But there's still the arguement of OU slaughtering the Tech team that beat UT. And UTs win over Ou wasn't nearly as impressive. Was still a shootout and both were able to score on the other.
Think about it this way: It's technically a three-way tie. But Tech isn't even in consideration, really. So it is between Texas and OU. If you are looking at two teams, you ask which one is better. Or... Which one will win at a neutral site. 45-35
Doesn't really matter to me anyway, I think UT is more beatable than OU so let UT go to the NC... just ensures that much more that the waterford stays in the SEC.
I don't agree. See OU defenses in the last 4 BCS bowl games. See Texas vs USC in 05 and Cal in 04 BCS games. Classic wins. I say Texas' defense gives Florida much more of a problem than OU would on a neutral field. I wonder how much this will play into the voters minds, the previous BCS outcomes by these 2 teams.
Well UTs O (43.9pts) is averaging 10 points less a game than OUs, but UTs D (18pts) is averaging 6 points better than OUs... but the Gators O is averaging 46 pts a game while their D is only allowing only 12 pts. Either way it should be a decent game. Not to mention that UT D allowed USC to basically score at will on them, like USCs D did also, and UT only won by 3... but since VYs knee was down on one of his TD runs they actually lost by 4.
The question is, do you trust OU to not lay an egg again? Everybody thought they would give LSU a battle in 03, then USC in 04, then Boise State was an afterthought in 06, then last year more embarrassment.
