In my humble opinion: Notre Dame. 1970, 1971 the first two meetings have something to do with my viewpoint for both were extremely tough games for the Fighting Irish. If one were too add the 2006 Sugar Bowl into the egg batter the statement is at least partially validated. No LSU has never face ND for a title. YET The Catholic League of New Orleans (and surrounding areas) had a hellovah lot to do with the toughness, polish, speed and tenacity of LSU's lineplay on both sides of the football in both meetings. Joe Theisman stated "LSU's 1970 D was the fastest, toughest squad he ever faced and they cost him the Heisman Trophy.
They're 5 and 5 vs. LSU. They've won two of the last four. I doubt they "fear" us. Bama...now they may fear us.
Will never forget the "hate" generated toward me for pulling for LSU vs ND, boisterously, and with no humility, while at USNA. Would have been given demerits if not for a Lousiana based upper classman that squashed the cadre of midwest LSU haters. Unforgettable. At the same time, I will always like ND, except against Tigers, for the massive generosity of their fans in feeding us and boozing us at some of the USNA-ND, azzwhuppins. Geaux Tigers and Happey Neaux Year.
