It seems like I've read a few (hundred or thousand?) posts here over the last year or two griping that Les Miles refuses to play freshmen. I never quite understood the complaints, because I've never met a coach who didn't play his best player.

    According to Miles:
"There were eight first time starters,18 first time players and 9 true freshmen that played in that game."

I'd say we blew that theory out of the water last Saturday night, eh?

There, I fixed it for you:thumb: On a serious note, it was good to see some of them playing.

I considered that. However, the general consensus around here (TF) wasn't that we didn't play the right freshmen, but rather that Les Miles wouldn't play any freshmen, especially because he favored senior players.

I'm just pointing out that it's a flawed theory.

It is definately proved wrong now. A lot of people wanted RS at QB, some instead of JJ. However, with so many freshmen on the roster, it will be almost impossible to not play them.

I believe the point was that Miles played a whole bunch of TRUE freshmen, which is not only counter to the common narrative about Miles, but is not exactly expected against a top 25 team.

Half of the 51 are second year guys.
