It is becoming more and more likely that Brady will be gone after this year. I am not a big BB fan, so I have no clue who the top choices for his replacement should be. Does any BB gurus out there have any suggestions?
Honestly, I think it needs to be a clean sweep. I think the program is so decayed that we need to just start over at this point. I really don't know who to look at for the head coach. I doubt that it will be Tim Floyd like the other thread said. He has a nice job at USC. I know there are local ties to him, but do you really thing that he will want to completely rebuild the men's team?
My #1 option is Virginia Commonwealth Head Coach Anthony Grant. VCU is already worried about the attention they expect him to get during the year. He was an assistant under UF HC Donovan and was going to take over UF before Donovan changed his mind and decided not to coach the Magic.
True, it does not take that long. But the new coach will have to deal with the mess that Brady will leave in his wake. He will also have to deal with the remaining players, restarting the recruiting system, and working with fans and LSU backers to renew interest in the basketball program.
No way Kruger would come here. Why go to the SEC and recruit against the big boys, when you can be a mid-major powerhouse who can go to the Sweet 16 or Elite 8 every year? The VCU guy is a good choice. I've heard that Tulane's coach is actually on the list. 3-0 vs. the SEC this year are the Greenies.
Did UNLV, who had become irrelevant in college basketball, think they could get the former coach of the Hawks? Probably not until they called and he said yes.
