Based on the season so far and the recruiting classes LSU has in reserve, which players will leap-frog over upperclassmen/starters on the depth chart next year? Can be starters or key backups. The rest are too unpredictable to really be interesting. Here are my guesses. I put an * next to those I feel are probable. PJ Lonergan takes T-Bob's spot at center. Chris Faulk* starts at OT by game 3. Brandon Worle starts at FB. Davenport in the DT rotation by mid-season. Montgomery in the DE rotation early on. Loston* starts at a Safety position before mid season. Claiborne starts opposite Peterson. Couple of longshots in there.
I agree with Loston and possibly Claiborne... but Loston starts earlier than mid season, I think we see him in the UNC game and he stays in the rest of the year.
I am going to go with Claiborne, he just has the size and speed to play CB in the SEC. I also will go with Faulk and possible Lonergan, I think Montgomery is a no brainer. For some reason I think Davenport will move to guard.
Is Chris Faulk going to be the guy who replaces Black at the crucial LT position? I don't know MM about Claiborne yet, i don't think he will be a starter, he may move to starter before the season ends, but i think Jai will be your starter at least at the beginning of the season. Look for Ryan Baker to have a big impact on defense, and my question would be, other than Sheppard and Baker, who will be the other LB's. Mingo? Minter? Tahj Jones?
I will sir, and if you are right, which since i am picking the opposite will probably be the case, i will send you a nice bottle of scotch.
Well RB will have a lot of changes obviously. Ridley, Murphy look to be the starters with Ford and Calhoun playing quite a bit. If Ford is as good as advertised maybe he's starting by mid-season. And of course if we sign Seastrunk he will probably play as a freshman. Running back will be pretty interesting to watch next season, we've been stable with Scott/Williams/Holliday the past few years but they'll be gone.
Other than Loston I wouldn't get my hopes up. We seem to be going the way of JoePa as far as playing upper classmen.
