We all have our views on the subject but I guess I just wanted to say that it was a rude and inappropriate remark, back to football....
Don't sweat it... remember that Bush had an approval rating in the low 20% range - and probably 95% of them are in the South, so you'll run into them quite often around here.
My comment was out of frustration because I wanted to help. I guess it came across in a way I never intended. Please forgive me.
You didn't fumble. You were right on. The situation in the New Orleans area after Katrina cried for leadership, but none was to be found. The major players in this vacuum was 1) Kathleen Blanco, Gov. of Louiisiana, 2) G.W Bush, Pres. of the United States and 3) FEMA, whoever was in charge. Nagin bears some responsibility but after the event he was pretty much unable to do anything for awhile at least. One of the most astounding quotes in the history of our country was made by G.W. Bush when he said "You're doing a great job Brownie". I actually fell out of my chair when he said that. This is, or was, an interesting thread. Carry on please.
let's save the katrina talk for free speech alley. y'all feel free to start a conversation about k, and the politics involved, there. in the mean time, let's keep this thread about football. thanks!
Enjoy the Pacific Northwest and by all means, have your way with the mutts. Sorry they won't help your SOS much, but that's okay with me, as I'm a solid Pac-10 guy anyway, or Pac-1 as you like to call it. I'll be attending the Cougar game against Stanford in Pullman earlier in the day with another Coug alum. His daughter is a senior at Wazzu, we're dropping off some stuff to her and making a long day of it. We will be listening to your game with keen interest. All kidding aside, the mutts are an unknown but they do have some talent. Locker is a stud athlete but the jury hasn't even been assembled on him being an elite QB. They have a bit of depth at RB and their LB's are supposed to be the strength of their D. Not much speed in their defensive backfield, not by your standards at least. I haven't heard any great reviews on their OL but they do have a couple of decent defensive linemen. They are a pretty young team. LSU needs to welcome Sarkisian to the big time in a big way. You will be compared to USC, who visits Montlake two weeks later. It's going to be Taylor Mays' homecoming, he prepped in Seattle. Petey, as y'all like to call him, will be looking to make a statement too for all the re-recruiting Sarkisian attempted to do with USC commits after he and Nick Holt bolted for the dub jobs. I've been a huge college fb fan my whole life. I like to watch good football. I know LSU is very solid right now, but maybe a little untested at certain spots. SEC teams are more known in general for being physical and running the football. There are exceptions, I realize that. My only point in bringing this up is that I've seen in the past where an SEC team gets behind and has difficulty scoring if they can't do anything thru the air. I don't know all the particulars on your team, I just know you are extremely skilled, physical and fast. If you aren't at least a decent passing team, that's the only way I can see the mutts hanging with you for any length of time. If I'm correct, your bread and butter is your running game along with a suffocating defense. Oklahoma absolutely schooled this team last season and I'm putting LSU at that elite level (talent-wise) against a little bit better UW team versus last year's 0-12 edition. They certainly can't be any worse. If I was a betting man, no way would I not take LSU and give the 17 points. I will be shocked if you don't cover the spread. Washington will be lucky to score 17 points, and I think I'm being a little generous. Seattle is a gorgeous city overlooking Elliot Bay and with a view of Mt. Rainier. That's just for starters as far as the scenery goes. The people are very gracious and hospitable and will welcome you with open arms. They have a lot of pride in their program and the place they call home. I think it's cool your school travels so well, that speaks very highly of your program and the people that support it. Anyway, I've rambled on far too long. Good luck and I hope there are no serious injuries.
