Mine is a tie between the Alabama-Birmingham Blazers and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. May they both have wonderful seasons and go bowling. LSU will win the national championship, of course.
I would have to say Mississippi State. My dad graduated from there so my younger years were spent going to Starkvegas for the home games.
I like to watch the service academies--Army, Navy, and Air Force. There is something appealing about true student-athletes.
Y'all ain't gonna believe this $hit.....Bama...then Auburn. I was a Katrina refugee in Birmingham...and the kindness shown to me and my family by the Gumps was incredible. It was beyond kindness. The whole state took people like us in and gave from their hearts...without condition. The very definition of charity. I even cooked for Bob Riley (the governor) and he personally offered to help me and my family out if we needed anything. The school system took my kids in and from the time I walked in the doors of the school, there was minimal paperwork and I counted 13 minutes before I was in a classroom with my son meeting the teacher. She had already instituted a buddy system and my son met his new friend immediately. Old Navy stores gave each refugee child enrolled in the B'Ham school system a $300 shopping spree and my son had a celebrity shopper to help him pick out clothes....Bo Jackson. He even called my dad on his cell phone because I told Bo that my dad just got an artificial hip replacement. For 10 minutes afterwards, my dad thought it was me playing a joke on him. He called me back and asked to speak to "Bo". So I gave the phone again to Bo Jackson.....unbelievable. THANK YOU to the whole state of Alabama from the Herbert family.
Florida State because: 1) I've hated Florida Gators my entire life 2) They offered me a full scholarship (but thankfully I chose LSU 3) I hope Jimbo does well
Which part of Birmingham were you in? Up until a couple years ago, I was living in Birmingham...moved there after living the party life in Baton Rouge. To be perfectly honest, I loved Birmingham. Just hated to hear about Auburn/Alabama every day.
