Giving Wade the MVP will basically be admitting they screwed Kobe out of at least one MVP award. Kobe only came in 4th when he averaged 35 a game and almost upset Phoenix in the first round. Great individual season, slightly above average team. When Steve Nash won his 2nd one, they stole it from Kobe, then they gave Dirk the one Steve Nash actually should've won. A lot of the MVP voting is based on hindsight nowadays because of the Steve Nash fiasco. He won is first one when Shaq should've won. He won his 2nd one when Kobe should've won. Then when he put up even better numbers on a better team than his two MVP seasons, he didn't get it, instead giving it to Dirk, who promptly bytched up and got put of the first round by Golden State. But they couldn't give Nash a 3rd straight. A guy can't win 3 consecutive MVP's with no championship involved. Wade is having a phenomenal year, but he won't win the MVP. I have him finishing 3rd or 4th behind Lebron, Kobe, and maybe Dwight Howard or Chris Paul. If MVP voting was really fair, MJ would've won about 8 or 9 MVP's instead of "just" 5.
It's all about perception. Kobe was most-hated in the NBA when he was scoring 35 pts/game. D-wade now is willing his team to victories in scoring and leading his team by example and everyone is rooting for him. He already has an Finals MVP for his credibility. The main reason he's getting the pub is because the media is starting to fall in love with D-Wade again and especially after the injuries last year, it would be a perfect story for him to win it. This isn't a year where there are seemingly no candidates that stand out like when Nash won the first one and when Dirk won his. It comes down to LBJ or D-Wade.
James or Wade. It will be oh so close. I give the edge to James (as far as who I THINK will win it), especially if they win home court advantage throughout. What happens in these next 12 games will decide this award. If LeBron does something special to win one of these games that keeps them ahead of LA, it will be over. I hope Wade wins it, cuz I think he deserves it just a tad bit more.
Looks like Paul won our MVP award. That's not a good thing for the average basketball IQ of our forum.
