With great power comes great responsability. Were you affected by someone this year, maybe they saved your life or did something mind blowing. It could be a politition or a local cop/firefighter! Did you like how PBO hunted and tracked down OBL? Maybe he is your hero? Whoever it is this is your chance to tell your story and give and old fashion thanks man you made my year! :911::usaflagwa
Wow!...he did it without even breaking a sweat! Maybe we should be thanking the military instead. My hero(s) are volunteers. I admire who do things without being asked or directed to...people who don't wait for someone else to respond...people who don't look for bailouts or government assistance. I admire those who reach across party lines and income classes to help those in need. My hero is someone who gives their time, money, prayer, patience, etc. to those truly in need who can't provide for their family or own well being. I admire those who don't do things for publicity or pose for a quick photo while pretending to care. I admire those who stand for their rights and want humanity to succeed and not those who steal (even legal stealing like unwarranted taxes) to redistribute resources to those who are unwilling to contribute. I admire those who can put the needs of others before theirself.
Nice post! I do a lot of volunteering my self. I was wondering if you had a specific person in mind? And what type of volunteering do you appreciate the most? I enjoy working with old folks; everyone has a great story to tell.
All ages...all races...all classes, etc. are important but I guess I tend to favor children more than anyone else. They don't have the ability to make their own decisions and need adults to care for them. I enjoy when they're young and so innocent they don't even realize the difference between income, color, religion, etc. They just want to play, have fun, and feel protected. I hate when children are subjected to violence, filth, poverty, drug abuse, physical harm, or even just bad parental influence. Kids are our greatest asset and we have a short window of opportunity to teach them responsibility and compassion. I don't believe it "takes a village" as the government isn't the answer. We don't need a program without goals and/or completion date to help our children. We need strong individuals who are willing to devote time and resources to make a difference. There are tons of coaches, grandparents, youth leaders, volunteers, etc. who make a difference everyday without recognition. It would be nice for a few wealthy philanthropists to lend assistance to this cause.
Those commercials with willy Nelson or Sarah mcglocklyn singing while they show poor little kids 3rd world countries suffering kill me. It makes fang sad. I think we need to get the kids out the house more unplug the games turn off the CPU and hit the basketball court baseball & football fields. Growing up that's all we did, hoop all day toss the football around and hit the baseball. With so many sickos around you don't see it anymore.
Wilie Nelson could help thousands of starving children if he would spend his money on them instead of dope. The dude is ALWAYS high!
People like this are my heros. Sad story BUT you say sumpin, you stand on it. No free lunches. Tennessee family home burns while firefighters watch | The Sideshow - Yahoo! News
