I noticed on the updated roster QJ is now listed as 262 lbs. Yoicks! He looked good last year at about 240-245. I don't know about 262.
Look at him catching the ball out of the backfield in the spring game. Imagine a cornerback trying to tackle that. I would rather hit a car. The guy is a veritable freight train. Watch the first play: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KD8VxRnJxJw&feature=related
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Stevan Ridley. He's that hard-running hybrid FB/RB Hester type that Miles seems to like. I liked what I saw of him in the spring game.
It is going to be very difficult for Ridley to see much playing time this year because of the crowd at the RB and FB positions. We have Scott, Williams, Murphy, Johnson, and now Edwards in front of him. I see Ridley also being a Hester type once he gets on the field but I think it will be another year before he gets significant playing time. He is a redshirt freshman so he has time to develop and work his way onto the field.
I think Terrance Tolliver (or as I like to call him...Dwayne Bowe, the sequel) will rise up and take over as the number two receiver by the Georgia game, relegating LaFell to number 3. Two reasons...the guy is pure talent and I'm not quite sold on LaFell's pass-catching ability. I could find his blooper reel...but I don't have to. I think we can all remember AT LEAST two INT's that went from his hands to the defender's...most notably in the Auburn game after a SURE forty-yard gain.
TT definetly has the skills to be a great one but his problem last year was not knowing the plays. He was not put on the field much in close games because of this and I would like to hear what Clair has to say about his progress in that department. Lafell had some problems catching the ball early and midway through the year but for every mistake he made I can find a crucial series of catches in close games such as the Bama game. He was clutch when he had to be last year and the coaches never gave up on going his direction in those situations. I expect the same this year.
Tolliver will have had another year to learn the system and he's more explosive in the open field than either Byrd or LaFell, IMO. And that's saying something. LaFell DID show improvement after we found another number one receiver. He seemed to do better in the shadows of Doucet or Byrd. Personally, I don't like inconsistency and that sums him up pretty well, in my book. Don't misunderstand me, if he's all we had I'd still be proud of our receivers...the competition is just THAT GOOD here at LSU.
Brett Favre Oh sorry. I thought it was just madatory that he be mentioned anytime anything is mentioned about sports everywhere:lol:
