Be that as it may….you can :D

She was asked by Charlie Gibson what insight she had gained from living so close to Russia, and she started her response by saying : "They're our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska"

The answer was fair enough considering the question.

Not during the interview….but I think that is the Island that they were building the “Bridge to Nowhere” to….but I’m not sure.

ETA: On the subject of politicians saying silly things…I find it interesting that people are quick to pick fun at the repubs for slips but when Obama and the libs do it their slips go quietly into the night. Like when "Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit, but my staff would not justify it."

You CAN see Russia from here! – Anderson Cooper 360 - CNN.com Blogs

No Alaskan gov has ever been to this Island. Of couse she quit didn't she? So that may not count.

I am going to quit being gov but I am going to take my chances on running the country.:thumb:

    mmm.....ok....did I say she did?

I just said that I thought that was where they were building the bridge that got so much attention a few years back. The fact that she has never been there doesn’t matter….she didn’t say “she could see” or “she has seen” Russia from land there.

As to her quitting…I can’t remember her reasons…nor do I care. But it was after the 2008 elections so I’m not sure why you added the latter part of your statement.

I hate Sarah Palin. I think she's a bumbling idiot. But there's nothing wrong or inaccurate about what she said. Not sure why people get hung up on this. She said plenty of stupid things to criticize her over.

I think it goes to two things….one like I previously stated the Tina Faye thing…and two I think that a lot of people don’t understand geography and actually think that it is ridiculous to think you can see Russia from parts in Alaska. Hell….the strategic location had a lot to do with why we purchased Alaska.

I don’t hate Palin…never understood why people “hate” her. With that said, I didn’t like her as a VP choice either but I guess they were simply trying to counter the "first black Prez" with the "first lady VP".
