Now that we have 26 in the class, how many do we actually end up with--25, 24, 23? If we have less than 25 who do you think gets the extra scholarships. Who thinks they will be saved for next year when we probably will be limited to less than 25 recruits? Who thinks they will be given to walkons? FYI: The Times Picayune lists Duplessis as "expected to be qualified".
No way we give out extra schollies to walk-ons. That would be a dumbfounding move on LSU's part. I am curious myself as to who won't make it due to grades. I think Tolliver's name has been mentioned that he has some work left to do (I think it's the ACT score). And of course I hope Benton can finally make it on campus for summer school so he can get prepared to get some PT this year. I think Duplessis was another that most seemed to think would not be able to qualify, although I guess things must have changed on that front. That's about all the ones I heard of.
We do it all the time . . . on a one year basis. When we have room under the 85 and a walk-on has earned it, he is often given a scholarship or it will just go unused. Such opportunities are part of what makes a good walk-on select a team. Sometimes they have to give them up later, but usually they get to keep them because they earned them and are playing. Preferred walk-on's, especially kickers, are promised that if they earn a spot in the rotation, they will be given the earliest available scholarship.
great explanation red. I rescind my remarks. But damn I wish we would keep them since this year is going to be special and we could a couple of more schollies.
