IMO this is what we are looking at Jimbo/Herman roughly 35% chance a piece Eaux roughly 25% chance if he brings in a great OC some random person who isn't on the radar 5%
Take out Herman he wants the Texas job and no way can we out bid Texas. IMHO Jimbos best days are gone. O is the man. His passion for LSU, the amazing job he has done so quickly under so much pressure, his willingness to let good assistants coach, his fabulous skills to recruit and motivate and lastly he is Louisiana he is one of us.
I don't 100% buy this. I agree we can't out bid them but we can make the argument that he will get more rope here. I don't disagree with the other points. I will stay cautiously optimistic who ever we hire but I really would love to avoid the re-tread of jimbo. I just keep remember bubble screen passes every other play.....failing
My memories too. My problem is if we are looking for great assistants to inovate our offense we need a HC coach who wont interfere. We need a HC coach who wont interfere with Aranda if he stays. We need a gead coach to manage, motivate, recruit and love LSU and our state! Oops I think we already have that guy its Oeaux!
Texas can offer their own network, more money and it's in Austin and quite honestly an easier league. LSU could offer less money, his buddy as a defensive coordinator is already here, and a shit ton of talent already here. Plus Louisiana isn't Texas because of the size of Texas when it comes to recruiting, but if he can lock down the state and pull a few people from Texas and Florida and Georgia, you can compete to win a championship because the big dog is your opponent once a year. I don't know how I would feel if I were him, if I was not an LSU guy I would probably choose Texas, just being honest. Doesn't matter anyway because I guarantee you Herman isn't this administration's number 1 choice, it's Fisher.
A network that absolutely sucks and one that ESPN can't wait to drag behind the barn and put a bullet in its head. A conference that isn't far behind it. Herman does NOT want the UT job, won't take the UT job. Not sure why you Fish eat so much bait
Is Jimbo a home run hire? Maybe not but he is an excellent choice that will recruit and develop the QB position, that alone gives a chance at success. I believe he could be very successful at LSU. I would prefer Herman but have no problem hiring Jimbo. Coach O is just not the answer. The Alabama loss is acceptable... the Florida loss is not. He allowed his team to run their mouths for weeks about this game and then allowed them come out flat and get embarrassed... at home... by a depleted, inferior opponent. He let his emotions get the best of him by allowing an injured LF7 to suit up at the last minute when it was obvious that he shouldn't have been out there. Tried to run the offense thru LF7 for 2 quarters rather than using the healthy weapons that he had available thereby handicapping his own team's chances. Quality head coaches do not do these things. He was arguably the worst head coach in the history of the Ole Miss football program and I'm not seeing any evidence that he has significantly improved. If we want to continue "The Golden Age of LSU Football"... as the pumpers used to call it, we have to take a chance on someone else.
