Who do we hire if the first 2 names are off the board?

If our Top 2 say no or end up elsewhere, I say we take a look at a number of guys... kind of in this order

Tier 1 (for me)
Peterson at Washington
Hugh Freeze
Shaw at Stanford
Mora at UCLA
Gundy at OK State
Whittingham at Utah

Tier 2 (for me)
Fitzgerald at Northwestern
Fedora at UNC
Dan Mullen
Dana Holgerson
Coach O

These are 11 names. There may be a few more out there that I didn't mention, but you get the idea. Proven, successful head coaches.

I like Jimbo Fisher better than all but Chris Peterson, and he is likely NOT available. In fact, for me, Tom Herman belongs in Tier 2. I understand the "sexiness" of what hiring him would look like, but the reality is, he's been a hot-shot coordinator and been a HC for 2 years.

I'm no real fan of Dan Mullen, but he's won at Mississippi State. That's not easy to do. Will Muschamp had a hard time winning at Florida.

 

Hugh Freeze? This guy is likely to get the NCAA death penalty due to his actions at Ole Piss. I just can't get behind him coming here. Petersen would be a sexy hire but I doubt he leaves U Dub, he's getting all the pieces in place at Washington, he'll be contending for the Pac for a while.
Whittingham would be a decent hire, but not sure he could handle the SECW, but only one way to find out. I also like Fleck with what he's done with lesser talent, but again another unknown.

 

What has Mora done that would make you place him as a tier one candidate? He's barely hanging on to his job in the weak ass pac 12.

Great list if you flip it upside down. Once you do that the ones below O most are hardly fits for LSU and some wont come here anyway.
