I scored over 130 points last week (My bench scored 81) but my RB play was a little sporadic. Tim Hightower started at my Flex and almost all of his yards came as a receiver out of the backfield. I also started Portis against the Giants which I knew wouldn't be a great outing but I thought it would be risky to start Cadillac Williams with him sharing carries with Ward. Portis scored 7 points and Caddy 15 on my bench. Tomlinson had a TD but time of possession and him tweaking his ankle hurt his production. This week I think starting Portis is a given since he is going up against STL at home. So my last 2 spots are between Hightower@JAC, Tomlinson@BAL, Cadillac Williams@BUF, and maybe Donald Driver@GB but I usually go with RBs especially since these 3 RBs are goal line backs. But could Driver have a great game? I am thinking Hightower and Caddy at the Flex given that even if Tomlinson does play with the tweaked ankle they are still going up against a great run defense @BAL which will probably force SD to use Sproles in little wrinkles to get production out of the backfield. Here is my current lineup (12 Team League): QB Warner over Hill RB Portis RB Tim Hightower over Ricky Williams and Tomlinson Flex: Caddy WR Wayne WR Holmes over Driver and Steve Smith(Gaints) TE Carlson over Tony Gonzales ???? K Longwell DST Giants over Miami Thoughts on the RB Flex and Maybe my TEs?
Thats how i would do it, if that was what i had to work with. Did you draft that team or was it an auto draft? I would almost say Tony G is a must start regardless of who Atlanta is playing, he creates mismatches all over the field. Tampa plays Buffalo, and i saw some big holes for maroney, faulk, and taylor last week, but are they going to play Caddy goal line? My other question is how is your scoring set up? Do you get individual points for return yards, or do they just go to special teams? I am going to have to hold off on who i would use at the flex until i figure out if you get points for return yards. If not, that would make me uncomfortable, and i would be looking for a diamond in the rough out in free agency.
dont out-think yourself. trade tomlinson now to anyone for a better starter before he loses all his value. thats my outlook on him. he looked 2 steps slow monday before he got hurt. if hes healthy, though, Id play him even against Baltimore. Jax isnt any easier for hightower. id probably play caddi over him in the flex unless its a points per reception league. play steve smith over holmes and driver. gonzalez over carlson. giants over miami because pennington looked pretty bad. well their offensive line did at least. corey webster to have 3 picks returned for tds while setting a record.
I drafted this team, no auto draft. Our point system does not include return yards but if the returner scores a TD then you get 6 points and who ever has the defense/ST gets the 6 points as well. No points for receptions just 1 point per 10 yards and 6 for TDs. Same for RBs. On Caddy being the redzone back: They used him last week for a 1 yard TD and on another drive he setup another redzone opportunity with a 35 yard run to the 5 yard line. They put Ward in for 2 straight plays and he couldn't get it done so they brought Caddy back in and he scored on his only carry. I am thinking about sticking with Gonzales as the starter but Carlson had a better outing last weekend with 2 TDs and the leading receiver for his team but it was against STL. Plus Gonzales is going against CAR which only allowed 102 passing yards last week but if they turnover the ball that much again then Gonzales will have plenty of time on the field. I am going to change my starter to Gonzales and put Carlson on the trade block to see what I can get. Portis does play STL not DET but it doesn't really matter between those 2. Tirk, not sure if you got the Steve Smiths mixed up but I have the other short one on the Giants. He lead the team in receptions and yards (about 70 yards) but he is not much of a threat in the redzone with his height. I couldn't start him over Holmes who had a killer game last week against a great Titans D, scoring me 20 points and he is going against the Bears this week. I picked QB Hill as my back up for now because Warner has a bye in week 4 and Hill is matched up against St. Louis. He won't earn me a ton of points but I expect at least 13 points that week for him. Then I will seek out someone who can back up if Warner pukes on the field again or gets injured.
I dont know why i said detroit. I would definitely go with Caddy at the flex then. I would definitely go with Holmes, Portis, Giants D.
Tied for 1st, hell I beat a girl this week who had Brees and his 50 points but she say Crayton and Shockey for some reason which would have equalled close to another 50 points. Future 1st place and it the early favorites for the championship game are my brother and myself.
Thanks for the help and I always try to follow what Tirk said. But it is hard for me not to over think it. I will look forward to these threads each week.
I can't disagree and I thought about it. I am going to stick with Holmes just because he was targeted a ton last week. But he wasn't spectacular last year overall and Driver is the 2nd WR behind Jennings.
