In order to build this country into what they want it to be , first they must tear down the old system. Never let a good crisis go to waste.
I don't know how great the Ryan plan is. It cuts a lot, and Republicans say it brings us to a sustainable point, but Republicans are every bit as awful as Democrats, so I am not sure if I believe them. I am not convince the Ryan plan does anything more than extends how long we have a workable budget. I say solve the problem. Making Medicaid a block grant, I think, is a terrible idea. I have first hand experience at how effective block grants aren't. CDBG and CSBG are probably among the least effective federal programs.
And they wonder why small business owners like me are sitting on the sidelines afraid to hire people.
They will not be able to do this. The house is ran by republicans and there is no chance in hell small business' will have their taxes raised. Geither is a puppet of the democratic party and obama's lap dog. He is about as useless at his job as possible.
The entire system is unsustainable and rapidly becoming unaffordable. Health care costs will surpass mortgages as a family's biggest expense very soon. The Affordable Health Care Law intends to address this. The new Health Law may not be perfect, but the Ryan plan is seriously flawed. They exempt you and me and all the baby boomers who vote and have money. But the people under 55 are going to be screwed big time. The Kaiser Family Foundation estimates that privatization would cost 11% more for the same services and and that cost disparity would widen over time, not shrink. The CBO, the non-partisan research arm of Congress, estimates that by 2022, the year the Ryan plan would start screwing retirees, it would cost a whopping 34% more than simply maintaining the current system. Persons in their forties will get screwed seriously if Ryan gets his way. They will get no respite at age 65. They will pay less in payroll taxes but this will affect the amount of benefit they are eligible for at retirement. Where they were on track to draw the maximum, they will stand to see their monthly benefit reduced by two or three hundred dollars. And on top of this Ryan Medicare would take over $500 off the top of social security paychecks, eating up about half of the average benefit. The CBO says, that by 2030, Ryan's plan will have seniors paying over $20,000 out of pocket for health care. Ryan's proposal drops the top tax bracket for individuals and corporations from 35 to 25 percent. That's a huge gift to the rich. Somebody's got to pay for it. Young middle class workers will.
If you can afford your own insurance, you don't qualify for Medicare. If you earned Social Security benefits but can't afford insurance, a form of Medicare will be provided for you. If you sat on your ass and made babies for 30 years and now you don't have a pot to piss in, too phucking bad.
Hey, I'm as much a right-wing, personal responsibility, "don't use the safety net as a hammock" type as you, and I know this will never, ever, ever happen in America.
