She's not aloof and arrogant. And she uses colloquialisms that east coast elites cringe at. Doesn't make her dumb. She's a politician who knows where her voters are. And they are not watching Jon Stewart or reading Daily Kos.

She's no genius. But she's smart enough.

And Obama's intelligence is overstated from what I can tell.

Palin wanted the money to go to Alaskans from whose land the oil was taken and on whose backs the profits were earned. Hillary's main motivation was to curtail the profits of the oil companies, who had the temerity to reap profits, and redistribute it to people who had no connection to the exploration and drilling. Big difference Hoss.

So. Because politicians are playing politics, you get to label something completely out of context?

Nope. I still don't see any link between the Alaska Dividend fund, which is universally applied to every single Alaskan, and Socialism, which redistributes wealth in a population from one group to another.

But like I said - if you do, go for it. Because Palin is just a distraction for the left and the media. And she's playing her part oh so well. The ego is a powerful thing.

A governorship usually does qualify one to be president (FDR, Reagan, Wilson, Teddy Roosevelt, etc.) because it is an executive position. In fact 20 presidents were governors prior to becoming president. Another qualification is distinguished military experience (Washington, Eisenhower, Kennedy). Twenty-eight presidents served in the military with 23 of them seeing action. As far as Lincoln was concerned he did not have a lengthy political career prior to his election as president, but every every once in a blue moon someone shines so brightly that he illuminates the nation, overshadowing his political limitations. Lincoln was of that rare breed.

i love it. "conservatives" are defending the palin policy of taking money from companies that make too much and giving it to everybody.

at a minimum this is a stimulus package solely paid for by companies that are the most successful.

Well, this Conservative isn't defending it all. I think it stinks of pandering (your word from another thread). It's just not Socialist.

I agree. She made some mistakes in how she handled the interview with CBS that contributed to the impression that she is not very smart or knowledgable. Both impressions are wrong. However, IMO she made a huge mistake in resigning as Alaska's governor. She should have finished out the first time and during the second term run for the Senate.

She could still be a serious candidate in 2012 but she has a lot of work to do if that is her goal. She certainly needs to convince a lot of people (particularly independents and moderates) that she is a serious candidate and she can do that by addressing important issues such as entergy, national security, immigration/border security and national health care issues. She can do that through interviews and writing a book outlining her vision for this country and explaining where she stands on the issues and why. She also needs to work hard next year on Republican campaigns helping to get Republicans elected to office - particularly congressional offices. If she can do all that she could be a viable candidate. However, 2012 may not be the best year for her to make a run for the presidency. It depends a lot on how good Obama is looking. I suspect 2016 may be a better year for her. The big problem with 2010 is she does not have a lot of time to do everything she needs to do.

If she accomplishes all this a Palin-Jindal ticket would be a dream ticket and would be extremely hard to beat, but I don't see Jindal being very interested in the VP slot. He will more than likely make his run for the presidency in 2016 and will be a very tough for anyone (including Palin) to beat in the primaries. But if she does win the nomination I doubt if Jindal would be interested in the accepting the VP slot even if it were offered to him.

i've seen enough to perceive any substance if there was any there.

Most are. I never quit a job before it was finished. I know what book and newspapers I have read.

Nor does it make her intelligent. They are non-sequitors.

Smart enough to be a mom is not smart enough to be President. But I hope the republicans run with her. Really I do.

she clearly is a dumbass and is not well-educated. doesnt mean she would be a bad president. but she would in fact be miserable. better than barry though.

i should note that i dont mean she is a super dumbass like if she lived next door and baked cookies for me i would say she is an idiot. i mean for a politician with aspirations to be a world leader.

It didn't stop Edith Bunker Blanco from being our Governor or us coming close to having Al Gore or John Kerry as President. I guess some people consider her stupid and some believe she's "real".

For me it's far too early to be thinking about the next Presidential election. I'm just hoping the current one doesn't bury us in debt with these "Redistribution of Wealth" and "Throw Money at the Problem" policies.

Maybe we should start learning Chinese. :D
