Danielson is smart but he wants you to know it, which doesnt come off too ell.

Danielson: That flag was probably a hold, I thought I saw the guard holding. Lets look at that Verne, he looks like he hooked him. Ok, here is the replay. You can see that he gets some jersey and that is what the umpire noticed.

Radio From Truck: Gary, it was illegal procedure.

Danielson: You know Verne, if you look down the line you can see that the WR was not quite off the line. It seems to be a problem with young kids. Ive been harping about it all year, they need to point towards the line and make sure they arent covering anyone up.

Ref: Illegal procedure on the offense, five yards...

Verne: AH HA HAAAA, Gary, when youre on youre on. Great call. AHHH ha ha.

Danielson: Well I thought I saw that from the beginning, its something I have been noticing.

well we all want to sound smart. but it does bother me when any and all broadcasters see the replay which shows them incorrect yet they stick with their original comment.

like when danielson didnt say, oops, i guess they can run it down our throats. he just stayed silent.

own up to it people, we're listening and already know.

I agree, the key is to finding that range that is in the middle of being over the top with it and not providing enough information. Most announcers know football, but it is giving you that information without drawing attention to yourself that is the key, and Danielson has a problem with that sometimes. People just like a steady flow with announcers, not someone that reverts back to previous points he made all game long.

Ive listened to him on the radio a few times and the guy really is brilliant, and I think I may have posted a link here one time where he just abused these big ten homers.

well he's an ex-qb and by default always thinks hes the smartest guy in the room. troy aikman seems to have that good balance mixed with humility.

I would agree with you. Even when the Cowboys are playing, he comes across as knowledgeable, and objective without being overburdensome all while critiquing or describing the situations he is observing. GD just has a way of conveying things that gets under your skin, at least under my skin.

When the game is on CBS, it's best just to watch the game muted and listen to XM radio on the Boneyard cranked. The CBS yuks are full of BS and poor Jim Hawthorne is just senile these days.

I clicked over to Jim and Doug on 98.1 for 5 minutes in the 3rd Q and on the second play while listening he said "Lee hands the ball off to Lee and Lee turns the corner for the 1st."

Poor Doug Moreau has to endure this in the box for 3 hours.

After his comments during the 2006 SEC championship game, he will always be one of my favorites. Dude is a huge factor in why the SEC champion has gone on to play for the national championship the past two years.

I dvr'ed the game and am watching it again right now.
UGA's 2nd offensive possession, 1st and goal. We show blitz.

Danielson: LSU showing blitz, he's going to check out of it into the fade.

sure as sh!t, he throws the fade. TD.
Chad Jones never even turned around BTW.

Danielson is the best announcer in the game. He is always calling plays before they happen and analyzing the play better than anyone in either the NFL or college. I think he is very fair. Really what has been that positive to say about LSU during his last two LSU games. It is a shame that he is paired with Lundquist. I think Mike Tirico and a Gary Danielson would be an outstanding pairing.
