I have no idea why, but I'm actually rooting for Croom and Miss St to continue to improve. And, though I don't expect them to threaten LSU seriously, I would NEVER look past an SEC team - goes without saying, prolly.

Getting back to the point of the thread, clearly (to me) Alabama is the bigger threat in the near future. Leave Saban out of it, Bama was never going to stay down forever. Too much tradition, HUGE fan support, TONS of money.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ole Miss resurface for a few years under that crazy bastid, either.

    absolutely.

we dont want the SEC to turn into the Big12 or Big10 with only 2 or 3 contenders

I think Mississippi State is the one to worry most about.

when you consider what Croom has done at Miss. St. it is really impressive.

He's not competing on a level playing field with LSU, bama, auburn, even Ark. as far as facillites and recruiting base.

I love the way some place him low on the coaching scale. I'd love to see how the mighty saban would do at ole miss or miss. st, even ark.

as long as Ole Miss is decent (and Nutt will keep them decent) MSU wont be able to get very good.

I with you here. On one end, he was able to get players that would have attended SEC schools but couldn't because of grades. Secondly, I know of three players that were offered quite a bit of money to sign with Louisville. One, we were after and two others from USC. I'm sure it's not limited to just those three.

Mississippi State is going to remain in the middle of the pack in the SEC as reflected by those recruiting rankings you mentioned earlier. The state does produce some great athletes, but Ole Miss and MSU haven't been able to keep most of them in state for years.

Take a look at the depth chart, everyone.

    Recievers? Check.
    OL? Check.
    RBs? Check.
    TE? Check.
    DL? Check. Check again.
    Safeties? Check.
    LB? Half-check.
    CB? We'll see.
    FG Kicker? Check.
    Punter? I recommend denial, here...

If Lee and Hatch can come close to matching Flynn's numbers last year (which were not amazing or incredible or even impressive), then this may be a great year, leading up to an awesome 2009.

    Have faith, bretheren.

Sure. You want to add another contender to the SEC West, making it even more difficult to go to Atlanta? Even conference and every division needs a few teams that lose consistently. Otherwise the upper tier won't be able to post winning records every year.
