My wife keeps asking me when its going to happen. Whats it like to grow up ? Seriously, I haven't quite finished enjoying this one yet. I guess I would describe these two championships thusly: In 2003, the magic having come and gone, LSU made it to the mountain top. Now, in 2007, LSU has planted its flag firmly on the mountain top. Will we get there again ? Certainly we will. NOTE: After further review, I see where there is referene above to LSU winning a "split" championship in 2003. Thats total BS. If you repeat a lie often enough, it doesn't become the truth.
I was responding to a post and didn't bring anything up but I'd like for you to show me what I posted that was not accurate. As far as keeping USC relevant, I'm not one of the many who keep injecting them into conversations, in fact, posted asking why they mattered to anyone yesterday so again shooting down that notion there big buddy. http://www.tigerforums.com/showthread.php?p=722302#post722302 *tiga beatin his chest* You want summa me boyeee.
Has anyone heard from eydel? I'm anxious to hear about his trip and sure he had to enjoy it. I liked both but this one was more special cause of the entire year and the fact that I got to see them play three times, and the KATT gaits, getting to experience is as it unfolded with other fans on TF. In '03, I was only able to make it to TS for one game and I didn't know SabanFan back then so, yeah, this year was definitely more special.
'03 was more of a relief, kind of an "it finally happened" feeling. '07 we expected it, felt like we deserved it. I was at the '03 game, so I definitely cherish it more. in '03, I remember watching grown men in their 50's and 60's crying and hugging their fathers, and it just made me proud of the fact that I'm so close to my dad. I remember asking my dad why he was willing to spend so much money on two tix for us and he said "I was 9 the last time LSU won a title. If they go another 45 years, I'll probably be dead." I almost left my dad's house Monday night with about 9 minutes left, convinced the game was over, wanting to record all the postgame interviews at my house. I said my goodbye's and made it within 2 feet of the door before realizing that this was yet another opportunity to watch LSU win an NC with my father. I quickly made my way back to the couch and stayed for the duration. Thank you, Coach Miles and all the players, for providing yet another "opportunity" to watch our team win a national championship!!!
07/08 cuz we got to go AND finally made it home, but still trying to recover... In the words of Toby Keith "I ain't as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was"....4 days and nights about killed us,...But it was worth it...ohhh, the stories will go on forever...:thumb:
Me too and it was the FU game that we lost. Figures :rolleye33: I debated about going to the NCG because I didn't want us to lose because of me, but there was no way I was going to miss that game. Since we've won both times I've been in attendance, I know I'm not the 'jinx'.
To quote Tom Brady, when he was asked the same question ("which title is best for you/favorite"): "My favorite? The NEXT one!" 2007, right now, represents the "next one" for us. We have the distinct honor as being the first 2-time BCS champion and 2 in 5 seasons. Normally, I've always stated that in today's world of sports (where dynasties are harder to find--be it because of free agency or by scholarship restrictions in college), there's a 4-5 year "grace period" where you should not be too up or too down if you can't repeat.
