No way that would have ever happened. Can you imagine the media fiasco that would have been. It would have made him look like more of a chump than Petrino who just won't stick out a challenge and make LSU look like dumb asses for taking him. I can't believe he would have ever been offered the chance to come back.

He may struggle at Bama and has some very unrealistic expectations to meet from the fan base there, but I can't see him leaving there or being run off any time soon, although who knows with what will happen with a couple more 6 & 6 seasons. Shoot, from reading there forums they are expecting to compete for the SEC championship and in the NC picture within a few years, so who knows what will happen when they fall short of that. But no matter what I think they give him at least 4 years.

I don't think LSU would or will ever take Saban back. He had his time and made the decision to leave. I don't think Saban really cares what the media thinks about him at this point. With the money he is making he's just trying to find a program where he can have the same success he enjoyed at LSU. Remember, LSU is the only program where he has enjoyed consistent success. And LSU had a lot to do with that.

Boosters would want him back, nobody in the AD department does because they actually had to work with him.
