If the rumors about Saban being so unhappy at Bama are true, something in that situation is bound to give eventually. If he really doesn't like it, it's going to be difficult for him to give it everything that he's got, which would reflect in his performance. Consequentially, the Bama fans would then run him out of town.

Chip, you seriously haven't dropped the being able to recruit in the Atlanta area theory yet? :)

If you get talent, it doesn't matter where it is from. He doesn't have to a GA driver's license to be successful.

I'm not certain I buy into those rumors. Saban has never been one to accommodate the media and the zealous segment of the fanbase, but nobody can accuse CNS of being stupid.

He recognizes that he has most, if not all, of the tools and resources he will need in order to place bama back in the ranks of the competitive teams vieing for the SECC each year. It will take time, but I suspect CNS knows he's got a good thing going. He still has to find a way manage the expectations of the more zealous fans among the Tide nation, but he knew that before he accepted the position.

Saban's also smart enough to also recognize what just happened to Bobby "The Desparate Drifter" Petrino in the media recently. Petrino's name is only the latest to be dragged through the media mud.

I mean, how lucky is Saban? He's hog-azz lucky enough to have a guy like Petrino come along and take away his media-appointed "Pinnochio Championship Belt." Man, did Saban pull a horseshoe out of his rear, or what?

So, I see Saban as a survivor in this thing and he's Bama's best chance to be competitive for the SEC again .... and any team that is competitive for the SEC is usually competitive nationally, too.

The odd thing in all this is Vandy keeps inching ever so closer to winning multiple big games, and holding their own in the ones they don't...not sure whats going on up there, but as we have seen...they are improving

If the rumors about Saban not being happy at Bama are true then it has to be about control issues and he's comparing what he now has at Bama to what he had at LSU. I don't think there is any college football job that will give him the total control he had at LSU. So he can't ever be as happy as when he was at LSU. If Coach Miles had left for Michigan there is no doubt he would have jumped at the opportunity to return to LSU.

I live in Nashville and support the Vandy athletic program. It's my SEC fix I need year round. What folks don't realize is Vandy has an excellent staff and is getting the most out of what they have to attract recruits and it's working. The basketball team is 10-0 right now. They landed this unbelievable freshman center who is starting. I've never, ever seen a seasoned freshman like this guy. He's a banger with a great touch. I've already seen him take over 2 close games scoring the final points to win the game. His name is Andrew Olgilvy. http://vucommodores.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/ogilvy_andrew00.html
He will be the SEC Freshman of the Year player this year.

As far as baseball they are now a top program in the country. With football it is a much slower climb since they are in the SEC. They had a real shot at winning 3 other SEC games this year. Maturity cost them all 3 games. They win those 3 SEC games and they win the East! GASP! Their biggest problem is depth. When they start getting injuries there just isn't anyone else to bring in. Bobby Johnson is doing a great job and the program will be stronger each year.

I think the sec coaches are ok for the next year. Sc will be happy w/ Spurrier as long as He's happy w/ them, Brooks is improving Kentucky, Vandy.. well who knows, Fulmer made it to the SECC, the rest of the East are certainly happy w/ their respective coaches.
In the west Croom's doing a great job, Arky's a pig in slop w/ Petrino,Nutt will be at OM for a while, TT aint leavin' AU. The last two are the only questions as I see it.
Saban's got another year at UA unless somthin' better comes along, which leads me to Les- He can stay in BR as long as he wants provided a NC win and the pull of UM doesn't get to him.

Fulmer has got to be it. Bringing Cutcliff back was huge for him, but he's lost him once again. I think he'll be forced into retirement in 2 years.

Petrino will definitely be looking around for the next big opportunity, but his character (which has rightfully been exposed) may prevent him from jumping around. What program could he jump to? Auburn, if they were to fire Tubberville, but I don't think he's going anywhere even though they probably won't be great next year.

I don't believe that Saban is happy at Alabama. I suspect that even if he fails to reach Alabama fans' expectations, they are stuck with him.

Mississippi St realizes that they will never be a power program. Croom is a good, but not great coach, but as good as they can get. I wouldn't be suprised to see Croom move to a better job if offered. Same with Brooks at UK & Johnson at Vanderbilt.

Spurrier may retire soon, but I don't see it.

Nutt could move to a better job after a couple years.

Richt & Miles aren't going anywhere. They only place Meyer would go would be the NFL, but he's smart enough to see that college offers a much better opportunity for him.

The only place I see mentioning that are Tiger forums. Interestingly enough, Terri mentions in the last few days that it's the only place where he's been where expectations are as high with CNS as they are with the majority of the fan base.
