Miles, Meyer, Richt, Fulmer, Saban, Petrino, Spurrier, Tubberville. All high profile coaches with enormous pressure to win big. No way all of these guys can deliver to the expectations of their fanbases. Expectations are higher than ever at all these schools?

Who is the first casualty? Or am I looking at this wrong?

Nice question. No doubt, they cannot all satisfy their fan bases. I am going to go with Spurrier. SCar does not have the ability to recruit and compete against FL, TN, and GA in the east. At some point they are going to get sick of him throwing the players under the bus. His finish this year was a joke, and he is now getting outcoached on a regular basis. My guess is that he retires.

I think Petrino will last at ARKY because they seem to be content with having a winning record. They may never win the SEC. I sure hope not!

I agree. I think he will be frustrated for a few more years and retire.

Though, Fulmer may be close to him.

I don't know. This is very tough. Ar-kansas is paying a lot of money, Petrino has wandering eyes, even if he does great he will bolt to someplace bigger. Fulmer was under so much heat for so long, two bad seasons and he could be gone. I think Spurrier will last -- he has fun and So Car is patient.

It may be wishful thinking, but if Saban does not get 8 or 9 wins minimum in the next two years, he's gone. Bama is impatient and they did not hire him for 6-8 wins. What if he loses Independence Jamboree and goes 6 wins, 6 wins in the next two years with 4-6 losses to Auburn, LSU and Tenn. Bama will eat $8 for the last two years and hire a Bear descendant like . . . Sylvester Grooms if he gets 7 wins each year at MSU . . . MSU!! Where the new slogan is "Alabama, MSU's bitch since 2006."

They aren't paying him for 8 or 9 wins either or 11 if you listen to a lot of Bamamanians who diss Miles for not winning titles while averaging 11 wins and top 5 and 3 finishes. Hell, to listen to them, it would have been a disgrace we lost 6 games in 3 years.

They expect TITLES. And although our friend TerryP disagrees, I think they expect it in a timeline simular to what happened here at LSU. Saban's a good coach and now that Bama's off probation, they'll get better, but will it be quick enough?

    That's the big question.

They will have to give him more time than they gave Shula, and I think they will. As much as it pains me to say it, he may end up playing for the SEC title before he's done there. He won't duplicate the success he had with LSU.

This reminds me of the radio shows after the Bama game. Their hosts were arguing with a fan who was posing "What if Saban had a losing season?" They yelled back SABAN WILL NOT HAVE A LOSING SEASON.
    "But what if he does?"
    "HE WILL NOT! **click**"

:rofl::rofl: I hope Bama loses the bowl game for that sole reason.

I think Bama fans will put up with NS one more season, if there isn't at least "some" improvement, his "azzzz" will be on the hot seat.

SC may face a situation soon, I've heard rumors from friends up there that SS may be getting happy feet again.

    Beyond that...who knows...Tenn, maybe

Most Bama fans I've run across, seem to think 09' is their year, so I say they'll give him two years of grace. He better deliver in 09' though. Even after his mediocre record this year, most Bama fans are optimistic cause Saban is burning up the recruiting trail.
