    As has Bama!

3 star guys: Ramzee Robinson, Juwan Simpson, DeMeco Ryans, Kenneth Darby, Tyrone Prothro, Wallace Gilberry, DJ Hall and Simeon Castille.

Those guys have really proven themselves at Bama. Those star ratings were from rivals. Scout had DeMeco Ryans as a 1 star!

I think that this class is the best that we've had in a while. Although all of them wont make an impact next year, look out in the years to come!

Florida is really getting some athletes down there. With all the big name WR's going down there one has to wonder why because they all cant catch the same ball. They are the top class and I have to say that they scare me the most. Also USC doesn't have such a bad class.

LSU's class is pitiful...Good luck even competing with Bama and Auburn for the West.

***Just trying NOT to be a "suck up".*** :yelwink2:

Of course you are just talking about the regular season--unless you forgot about the TT Red Raiders high powered offense...

Texas Tech has NO defense.... 'Bama didn't have to do too much offensively as long as your defense kept that Texas Tech gimmikie-crap-offense in check.

But until you guys show that you can put together even a decent offense, I'm not too worried.

I'm not one to blame or put down excuses because yeah, we F'ed up but our inablility to build a high powered offense has been restricted. We are starting from square one now. No sanctions and no restrictions. It may seem like an excuse but really, you have to think about what kind of talent we brought in while on probation. The slate is clean now and we're back into the ranks recruiting-wise.

Our offense wasn't good this year--point blank--I know that. Thing is that we had a VERY young OL. After Closner went down, we started 3 freshman, a sophomore, and a junior on the line. That's not a place you need young guys...It's undoubtably going to improve. Experience=improvement.

We will be crazy deep at the RB postion next year. Darby has already proven himself, plus you have (SO) Jimmy Johns (5.3 ypc), (SO) Glenn Coffee (3.7 ypc), (RSFR) Roy Upchurch, and 5 star freshman Mike Ford. As stated earlier by someone else, Ford is going to make some noise.

Our recievers are also young. Hall, Brown, and Caddell will all just be juniors. We are getting Nakita Stover from JUCO and he's very promising. Was rated the best WR in Alabama in '04. Unfortunately, I dont think that Prothro will be back until '07. You guys better look out for that WR corps in '07!

QB John Parker Wilson is going to turn some heads next year. He's not going to be any Matt Leinart or Drew Olsen, but he's going to suprise some of you.

Our downtime is over. We're starting all over and this class is begining to pave the way for future classes. We may not have really been "back" this year or even in '06...But starting in '07, we're going to be a power again. Go ahead and count that down!

I wouldnt say Bama's downtime is over. Offensive line is still a problem. QB is unproven and the receivers have not proven they can get the job done either. There is also plenty to replace from that D including the big play makers. It is hard to believe that Ryans was a 1 or 2 star. He is a big time stud. I still remember him standing Bowe up. What a play.

Seems like ya'll have had a couple good classes in a row now. I agree that sanctions held you back, but how much?

This was a good year for Bama fans, but dont' forget how lucky you got to win against some pretty pathetic teams. Next year will be a down year. '07 may be when Bama is "back", but I think Auburn & LSU will still control the West most of the time.

I have to agree with you 100%. Mark is getting talent and he has proven that he can win some big games.

A few years ago when Kentucky and LSU played...LSU winning on a last second TD when the UK players were already running on the field. You remember that game? Wasn't Hal Mummy the coach at that time?

The reason I bring that up is this "gimmikie-crap-offense" you refer to happens to be the same offense Mummy runs.

Year after year this "gimmikie-crap-offense" has had the leading QB in the nation, etc. etc. etc. It works, but was simply shut down.

This same "gimmikie-crap-offense" you refer to happens to be the offense that won OU their first NC a few years back.
