I would never, under any circumstances, feel 5-7 would be better for the program than a winning record. That you ask at all tells me all I need to know about your selfish attitude.
Only if we were guaranteed to replace him with someone unquestionably better. Who is that going to be? Anyone that wants to discuss the firing of a winning-record coach without mentioning the obvious question of "who to hire instead" is just a Les hater. Yes. Yes. Then kwitcherbitchin'. What do you want, eggs in your beer?
I would add, horrible coaching mistakes and an offense that still struggles, yet we go 14-0. This scenario would have some like TC jumping off the building tops.
Shouldn't the real question be, How many games does Les have to win before TC wears and LSU shirt? :LSU231:THESE COLORS DONT RUN!!! :thumb:
Sometimes I suspect that Tiger Forums is secretly controlled by the LSU Athletic Department, and that most of the people who post comments are foot soldiers marching in step with the company line. I myself do not hope for LSU football to lose. 14-0 would be great. But I cannot envision it this year. And it is legitimate to wonder if 5-7 would be better for the program than 8-5. Five and seven would make LSU go after a top-notch coach while the program is still relevant. Hopefully the Tigers would then start competing for championships again. Eight and five? Would fans on TF consider that a successful season? Would it make them look forward to 2011 if there were no major changes? Occasionally an athletic organization does have to hit bottom before it can rise again to the top. See the 1996-97 San Antonio Spurs for one example. They went 20-62, fired their coach during the season, secured the top overall draft pick, drafted Tim Duncan, then won four championships. (See the 1999 LSU football team for another example of hitting bottom before reaching the top.) This is a discussion board, right? I thought the objective was to discuss, not to throw out ad hominem attacks anytime someone has doubts about the future of the team. If I weren't a real fan, would I spend this much time thinking and writing about LSU?
It would be one thing if this topic hadn’t been discussed to death on this and other forums. We all are quite aware of the shortcomings over the past 2 seasons, we all are aware of the issues at hand, we all are aware that this team needs to show improvement, but improvement isn’t necessarily measured in the W/L column. Instead of being one of the fans that always looks at the glass not only ½ empty, but rather totally empty, and has no solutions, why don’t you post some positive solutions to the problems at hand. Most of us do discuss the problems, but give some sort of solution. To always point out reasons why Miles should be fired just gets old.
