It's good to have you back, while I don't always agree with you I do find your posts insightful and well thought out. :thumb:
Red, remember that story you told about being youthful/crazy on a canoe where you thought you could hit that jam but you got lucky to make it out alive? Any cool stories like that from you or the people with you at this last trip?
I currently know pretty much zero about state politics but that is sad to hear you think our own state governor has given up on Louisiana higher education. The guy was born in Baton Rouge, went to Baton Rouge High, and then went to Brown... why would he be selling out Louisiana education when it helped make him the person he is now? I have been hearing a lot about how the budget situation is getting sad at LSU, but hasn't that been the whole economy, or no?
Typical of Red, blame the Republicans for everything. None of this could be Obama or Dems fault that the economy has tanked around the nation the last year therefore there is less revenue to go around the states. I don't know about the higher education in Colorado but I will tell you that we have a Democrat governor who isn't going to run for another term. They are looking at closing public schools and making classrooms bigger. Louisiana aint the only state with educational or economic issues!
red! you're back! we missed you. (well, i did.) purple, scoot your ass over and make room for red on the couch. someone go get amigo a beer. jeez, red was gone for a week. show a bit of hospitality, guys. sdm and rex, dont jump his ass until he has time to relax a bit. sheesh. men.
Just because someone here hates or disagrees with Republicans doesn't mean the governor has given up on higher education. Education has NEVER been a priority in Louisiana. We have historically been ranked low in many quality of life categories yet now that we have a Republican governor and a Republican Senator we want to start pointing fingers. What about the 100+ years of having two Democrats for Senators and only a couple of Republican governors? What did that get us? Everybody wants something but nobody wants to pay for it. Regarding education...we should focus on math. Obviously many people in this country believe if we just print more money and tax the wealthy we can just continue to spend, spend, spend. Maybe if they had a basic understanding of math they could understand that spending more than you earn leads to DEBT! People in this country are being conditioned for failure/excuses/bailouts. Why should they care if someone is always there to bail them out? Who needs accountability and personal responsibility if they can just get another handout? Louisiana needs to stop supporting so many universities. Make them more specialized. Why does every school need the same curriculum? It costs too much to support all these schools. Create a better business plan. Where was the uproar over education when stumbling, bumbling idiot Edith Bunker Blanco was in office? How embarassing was that to have her continuously remind everyone she is/was an educator? No wonder we have problems here. I'm just thankful to have grown up in St. Tammany Parish where we weren't under the influence of liberals.
Not until he takes a shower!...and it's his turn to buy the damn beer. I'm not made of money...like Obama. BTW...he already has 60% of the couch. (well only 59% now) :hihi: Are you suggesting he (or both of us) need(s) the type of couch you can lay on? Welcome back red. I'm glad to hear you took a vacation. I think we could all use one about now.
