I went on a road/camping trip for a week and getting away from the computer felt so good that I've been hesitant to get back to fully bionic status again. And I've been really busy at work. I had to give a pending layoff letter to a guy who's been with me for 12 years. The budget situation at LSU is really bad right now and we are juggling funds just to get to the end of the fiscal year in June. Then we wonder if the whole department will survive the next round. We are getting very jaded about our governor's abandonment of higher education. Combine that with gearing up my consulting work and side businesses as I get ready to retire from LSU in a 2-3 years (maybe sooner!) and suddenly I'm dealing with a whole new set of priorities for my time. The idiot-to-amigo ratio in The Den and FSA has risen to levels such that there is less to hold my interest for very long . . . long on insults, short on substance. I haven't cracked a thread there in a while, just checked in on recruiting and condiments a time or two. I sure as hell ain't avoiding you, Shane. I'd high-tail it quick if I had to shoot it out with you with assault rifles at 500 yards. But I'll cut you to pieces in a debate, Hoss. That is, . . . if I can manage to give a chit . . .
