It appeared to me if Hairston doesn't get in the way of his own kick we had a pretty good chance of getting it..........I'd also like to comment on his sideline antics, we had seats right behind the bench and he's WAY over the top slapping and yelling at players (I presume trying to fire them up) for a kicker. I saw him yell at one over our DL's and headbutt him and thought I bet that guy wants to kick his ass, he's in there knocking the shit outta folks and getting the shit knocked out of him and this kicker is yelling at him? Tone it down a little.......oh and Micky Johnson's ass needs it's own zipcode, thing is monstrous!
And I was surprised at that, too. My point was only that onside kicks are rarely recovered, so it was a helluva chance to take when not a lot could be gained.
I bet that if you controlled the data and removed the onside kicks at the end of games, where the other team knows it's going to happen, they have a pretty high success rate.
Could be. It'd be an interesting study. Also, about that onside kick....it hit the ground before bouncing into the air (albeit a short-hopper). I thought they outlawed that this year? I expected a penalty forcing a rekick on that play. I'm sure that if LSU had recovered, it would have been flagged...
Where was his ballsy play calling when the Tigers had a 3rd and 10 with under 2 minutes to go? Make a first down, and the game is over. Instead, run into the line, miss a FG, and the rest is history.
Hairston was one of the guys who got us fired up for South Carolina also. Not a stretch to say he's one of the emotional leaders of this team?
