Yeah it applied to Jefferson as well. Just didn't know at that time JJ would ever get back into the picture. We had no real credible news as to what really happened the night of the fight and it appeared JJ was all but done as an LSU Tiger.
The rest of the nation got jipped by not being able to watch a deserving Oklahoma State team go up against LSU. I think that's how they felt after the game was over.
Deserving is always going to be subjective in the world of college football. But if you mean, did the two best teams this year meet for the BCS NC, yes they did.
Okie State lost to a team on the road on a short week (Thursday night) after an emotionally traumatic event after jumping out to a huge lead.. OSU jumped out to a 17-0 lead and the kids' emotions drained from them and they were in a battle in which there was a field goal that I watched live looked to be GOOD called not good by the ref. The OSU kicker and holder were shocked it was no good as was I. They eventually lost in overtime. The same exact thing happened to LSU post-Katrina on a MNF game against Tennessee.. we got out to a 21-0 lead didn't we? We lost in overtime to the Vols and Rick Clausen and that was in Tiger Stadium. Such losses aren't so surprising in college football with young kids playing. Bama lost at home and got beat by making mistake after mistake. Hard to argue Bama's case over OSU though I consider Bama a superior team I considered OSU more deserving. Most felt LSU wouldn't "deserve" a rematch if they lost to Bama before the season began. It is stunning Bama lost at home and got in. Kudos to them for making the most of it, though it certainly is questionable.
I'll take "superior" on my crystal anytime. These "most" you speak of is another part of BCS mythology. In 07, LSU was the first choice of all 1 loss teams in the land, then first choice in 2 loss BCS teams in 07. They like you, they really do. Lastly, Okie light and "the man" can be most thankful he didn't get a chance to try out that one dimensional "50 passes" approach to attacking either Alabama or LSU this season. After all, it can be a very short trip from "most deserving" to most dumb.
I don't think OSU would have come close to beating LSU or Alabama this year. I guess it comes down to can you be a national champion when you aren't a division or conference champion? In the end, the crystal is with Alabama, but I think most dismiss OSU without hesitation and I don't believe they should have been dismissed at all let alone so readily given their body of work versus Alabama's..
Im a huge Les fan, but Les brought the EXACT gameplan from Nov 5 while Saban made and completely different one.
While the game planning and game adjustments may have sucked balls, the lack of passion and intensity was our ultimate downfall.
LSU played like a team that already had a share of the championship at minimum. We saw that with the first half against UGA. Sadly, they did not realize how wrong they were.. Still, LSU was a very young team and sometimes the younger you are the tougher lessons are learned the hard way.
High school team Georgia Southern gets 21 points and 300 yards rushing on Bama, and we cant even score a fricking point? 5 First downs? Truly one of the worst game plans of all time. Damn shame.
