Miles has shown he will play the young guys without hesitation. However, the QB position takes the most time to grasp. It is all up to Mettenberger IMO. He will have the Spring and Fall to earn playing time. He may not start right away but he will get playing time. How much time or little time is in his hands.
I don't disagree. What I'm saying is that if two players are close in talent/ability, Miles will play the upperclassman. I think in Montgomery, Peterson, Mathieu, etc. we see underclassmen who are just flat out better than the upperclassmen - so they get to start. I agree - it's in Mettenberger's hands. If he shines brighter, he'll start.
Well today is the day he arrives for his weekend visit. With family and will be here until Sunday. Nice read about his past mistakes. Quarterback recruit with a past visits LSU | shreveporttimes.com | Shreveport Times
I hope he has a great visit and gives us a verbal. So he grabbed some titties and ass at 18 while liquored up. Mistakes happen and lets give the guy a chance to redeem himself. I say sign him up and welcome to DEATH VALLEY!! This is coming from a father of 3 girls..:tigereye:
So, Mettenberger didn't commit last night? I know we let a Rebel Black Bear team with a poor record stay in the game when we shouldn't have, but surely someone explained that rivalry to him. Death Valley was rockin for 4 qtrs, tho. It was a good game for him to see, methinks. Hopefully, we'll be hearing the good news today or tomorrow. Here's an early and anticipatory "Welcome to LSU, Mr. Mettenberger!!!!"
According to an LSU trainer who posts in the recruiting board at TD.com, Mett has always intended to make his final choice in December. I admit I was hoping he'd fall in love while he was here and make the call, but I'll take him whenever we can get him. lefire: :LSU231: :laflagwav
Had a great visit according to multiple sources and I expect his decision to be made pretty soon. He could come in and be here for Bowl game preparations. Not sure if he is expected to make any other visits or not. At one time he said he only had time for A&M and LSU but he got a number of offers after that. I think his commit could come between now and 3 weeks from now.
I'll second that. This is where you need to be. Your drop back style will do well, don't worry! And, nobody will be able to take away the experiences of QBing in Tiger Stadium from you once you get here. And your talents will be showcased well for the NFL, if that is your ultimate goal.
Most Head Coaches starts the upperclassman if they are equal, because the upperclassman is in the system longer and will make less mistakes. But it can't hurt for an JC underclassman QB to push the two Sr. QBs. for the starting QB position. :geauxtige
Yeah, if Mett is as good as advertised, and has some smarts.........especially since he'll be coming in early, I think he'll be able to learn the playbook and press for playing time. He really can't complain, tho, because coming to LSU he's pretty much guaranteed to be the starting QB for 2-3 years on a premier SEC team. Thats a great opportunity to not only showcase your talent, but also win divisional, conference, and Natl Championships..........not to mention be a Tiger and play in Tiger Stadium. I just pray he is a leader like Mauck and Flynn. Neither of those guys were out of this world talents, but they were great leaders, game managers, and clutch players. Thats what we need.
