I'd be very happy if Lee was performing like McCoy his first year.

I don't think we lose to UGA with RP. Now Florida, we lose that game even with Tom Brady at Qb.

We're missing the point on McCoy. He had a really good freshman year. He struggled as a sophomore, however.

:geaux::crystal::helmet: Agree with you on this, but still glad RP is history. What a moron to throw away the opportunities he had before him! Was obviously not a team player and needed to "go away". Yes the team is suffering at QB right now with Lee struggling, but the defense (or lack there of) is the bigger problem. :geauxtige:champs::LSU231:

    C'mon! That's obvious! Who wouldn't???

I also wish Jai and Hawkins would perform like Corey Webster in their first year as starters... I wish LaFell would perform like Michael Clayton (i.e. "sure handed")... I wish Charles Scott would perform like Ricky Williams in his first year.... I could go on and on....

Lee's not performing like McCoy did. He's performing like Matthew Stafford did. And Stafford turned out to be a very solid QB.

This says we went 9-3 with two regular season losses and a bowl loss.

Besides, we were cheated at Auburn, and Iowa won on a fluke play where Randall Gay was held, and it wasn't called:

The only bad loss was to UGA. We probably had worse QB play that year and still didn't do as bad as this year's team. So, the '04 team was FAR more respectable and played much tougher than this year's team, and the whole overused "the year after the a championship..." argument falls flat.

The '04 team was a dissappointment from the opening game on, and you're being dishonest if you suggest anything differently.

And it wasn't one bad play with blown coverage that cost us the Iowa game. We had to come back from (what?) 14 down to beat the Hawkeyes, after Saban's vaunted defense gave up loads of yards on the ground to the worst rushing offense in the country.

How? We had a freshman QB and a LB playing QB, we lost tons of talent and leaders at all levels on the defense and great skill players. We lost at two top fifteen teams, won at another top fifteen team's stadium, and lost on a Hail Mary in the Capital One bowl.

Not bad for a rebuilding year. What did you expect with our road schedule that year and a new QB? Sounds like our fans this year...

I'm not saying that it was a NC caliber team, but it was far more competitive than this year's. A moron would disagree. Despite getting down to Iowa, we roared back. We didn't lead UF or UGA once this year.

I didn't expect another NC that year. I knew we would struggle (lost Mauck, Clayton, Henderson, Hunt, etc.), but I thought that we would be competitive - and we were, especially on defense. This year, there is absolutely no fire, no tenacity. Nothing. It would be dishonest to suggest otherwise.

Yes, we did come back, but here are the rushing stats for the game:
    RUSHES-YARDS (NET)............ 36-118 (LSU) 29-47 (IU)

No clue to where you were getting your stats. LSU held them to 47 net yards. If anything, LSU allowed 287 yards through the air, but the bomb was 56 yards and their first score was a 47 yards TD pass. Iowa also scored on a punt block.

    It was a competitive game.

    Score by Quarters - 1 2 3 4 Score
    -------------------- - - -- - -----
    LSU....................... 0 12 0 13 - 25
    Iowa...................... 7 7 3 13 - 30

That's correct. Iowa was a lousy passing team in '04.

What I remember from '04 was plenty of the same sort of complaining on this very board as there has been this year.

The seasons have been quite similar. The win at Florida seemed to make up for the dismal performance at UGA that year. Perhaps a win over Bama could do the same for us this year.

However, we struggled that year to beat Oregon State (who had a bad season), Troy, and Vandy. It was not a terrific year, and the team has a noticeable lack of intensity.

We may just need to disagree on this, however.
