Your feeling of how KW has performed is based on a limited sample carefully selected by the coaching staff. The reason he's looked so good when he's played is because he's been put into position to succeed - that means runs to the outside. When he's had to run through the tackles it's been less than impressive.
we have a great team. i like williams, but i do understand and see the points brought out by all of you. i happen to like hester and believe he will be playing a lot of ball on sundays next year as well. i suppose whether williams becomes great will remain to be seen. i hapen to believe that we do not need to sign a rb or another qb in this year's class. we are loaded at both spots, imho. i happen to believe that next year's team has the ability to be better than this years team. i think the future is great for the tigers. on a different note, trindon holliday has been a surprise to me this year with how tough he does run between the tackles. i think he often tries to run east/west, but i think he is avery tough and fantastic runner once he takes it north/south.
We have a commitment from D.C. Jefferson- a QB. Check out our Recruiting forum too. :thumb: As far as Holliday, pound for pound, he's like a lil Hester but greased lightning. He is a tough lil bastid just bounces off of arms, when they can get close enough to him.
Hester averages 5 ypc. Williams, with a more than sufficient sample space, has averaged well over 6 ypc in his career. Those stats don't lie, not on paper, not on the field, not a goddamn place. We're not asking Miles to give Williams more touches than Hester. We would be happy, however, if he got more carries than Shawn Jordan. There is simply something wrong with this picture. The guy saw the holes well enough in the latter part of last season that he carried us in the running game. Anybody remember how he dominated that all important Arkansas game, a game in which we barely won by 5? And I still am pissed we threw away the Auburn game by continually running Hester up the gut for little or no yardage. That game cost us the shot at the NC, an NC game we would have won as we now know. So this season he's too much of a retard to hit the holes and squeeze into holes and blah blah blah. Not buying it. Coaches are not always right. In this case, they certainly aren't. I love Miles to death, but some of these games could have been easy victories vs the come from behind nailbiters they turned out to be. I just hope to God our title chances don't go down the drain because we didn't play our very best players. I just want Williams to get his 10-12 touches. That's all.
I don't think anyone on here is saying replace Hester with KW. They complement each other. The kinds of runs you do with Hester, you would not run with KW in the game. KW's are quick pitches running wide and off tackles runs. Hester's tends to go between the guards and center. KW is our best threat at RB. Hands down. He gives opposing defenses fits defending his breakaway ability. There is no justification to him not seeing the field. And he does not see the field (1 carry per game average over the past 5-6 games doesn't count).
Is my memory poor, or was the LA Tech game the only game where senior Shawn Jordan had any significant touches - an informal leader particularly in the weight room where he is an animal and as a punishing and seldom recognized blocker. Might want to lay off Jordan - he deserved to get his plays in during a blowout homecoming game in his last season as a Tiger. :yelwink2: But I'm with you in the sense that I would like to see KW or Scott get a few more carries per game. In the end, I can't imagine the coaches don't have a solid reason.
How many short yardage plays has Williams been in on? How many one to two yard touchdowns does Hester have? Those stats do lie. Even last year Keiland wasn't very good at running between the tackles. Do you know how much statistical analysis goes into the coaches' decisions? They have every RB's plays broken down by down, yardage, play call etc. They know, with absolute certainty, what each RB has performed best at. It's already been brough up in this thread, but do you see the kind of rushing yardage we are putting up? That is not an issue for this team & playing Keiland more wouldn't have made a lick of (positive) difference. I do too, but in order for him to get those touches he'll have to develop into a complete back. It's on him, not the coaches.
