obviously, it is tough to equate what and how kw would do compared to hester, given the same number of caries, etc... maybe that is an excersice in futility. personally, i feel that the talent level and athleticsm of kw is superior to hester and , yes, he could do more than just run through an open hole and yes he could break tackles and gain yards after the first contact. we won't know until hester leaves and kw gets more carries. my opinion is based on how i feel kw has performed and how well i think he can perform
Well Said. I couldn't agree more! The coaches know way more about the players than we ever will. And more about football, too. The only thing we all know is that so far, they're doing a fine job. Doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement, but I'll take our position now over that of 118 other teams. ldskule:
Of course it is, ace. And you ain't the first one who has asked it. Use the search function and you'll find about a half-dozen threads on the subject. We're just a bit tired of the question, that's all. Don't be offended by the responses. Opinionated new guys get baptised by fire around here. Welcome to the board. :thumb:
you are right, but if their is always room for improvement. this is really the first year where he has had to make decisions on player personnel.
Go back and watch some games, if you have any recorded. KW pulls up when he gets in a situation where there's no daylight to run to. It's like he's afraid to get hit. If you don't believe that, why hasn't he broken any punt returns when he's been in on them? Well, that's not the only reason but you know what I'm saying without saying it huh? Part of the reason for his ypc is b/c the coaches are using him in the right play calls. In a fourth and goal on the 1 yard line, for example, Hester's money. I was big on KW too, coming into the season, and couldn't understand, early on in the season, the same things you are saying but have since seen/understood- they have the right man in. BTW, welcome to the forum. :thumb:
very fair. i had no idea about the search function. i had no idea i was being that repetitive. i will research that and move on. thanks for the welcome to the tigerforum. i look forward to more discussions
What? You mean to tell me LSU has not played its best players 10 games in? Well if LSU has not played its best players by now I would guess there are no plans to do so now. JMHO..........
This is really all it comes down to. Keiland has the most ability, yet all he can do is run outside. For whatever reason, he cannot run between the tackles. If he got the number of touches that Hester gets & was relied on for third or fourth & short our team would be a lot worse off. His average yardage would drop drastically. Chad Jones doesn't know the defense. He's got a few plays that he knows what to do, but for all the other ones he'd just be running around like a chicken with his head cut off. What good is all that talent if it's wasted by being out of position? It was the same story with Byrd & Toliver earlier in the year. They're coming on now not because it's taken the coaches time to recognize their talent but because it's taking the players time to learn the offense.
I've been a Tiger fan since the early 60's, seen a lot of teams. Many great players. Though I have always been proud to be a Tiger, these last few years have taken us to an entirely different level. We are as good as it gets! Other schools want to be like LSU. I'll be the first to admit we haven't played nearly as well as we are capable of this year. Penalties and turnovers every time you turn around. Many times we haven't looked very good at all. In spite of this, we are the best team in America. I can always find something to complain about, but that is something I can damn sure be PROUD of! Hester won't win the Heisman, but I think he is the most complete football player in the nation. He reminds me of Jimmy Taylor. When he steps onto the field, you know he came to play. Geaux Tigers!
