Id imagine 4 straight top 5 finishes might have a little something to do with it. Carroll gives freshman and sophmores more PT than any other coach in a top program. Plus USC is in sunny LA, which is full of celebrities. Im sure those are 3 pretty good reasons why a 5 star would want to go to USC.
Damn, that does make me sound like a closet USC fan. Nah, I just think its the truth and it got me that a ND fan would question why someone would want to play for Carroll.
It's Okay, most of the points are common knowlege (I don't know how true it is that USuck give freshmen and sophomore more playing time- I think it all depends on need and competition. Doesn't LSU do the same with the freshmen?) The whole thing is like Keiland 2006 all over again. All LSU can do is to be classy about the recruiting ,make him feel that being at LSU is all a big family, and give him some space for soul searching.
On every forum I am on , the same thing is being said,"if he comes here,o.k.If he doesn't,o.k." Or "If he doesn't come here screw" him. Truth is I think deep down inside everyone wants Joe to be a Tiger. All of these negative remarks would not be said if he were to say he is a strong lean towards LSU but he just wanted to make sure.He is the type of player every program wants. You cannot have enough players like him.Anyone who thinks that he wont make or break our class is correct but ,anyone that thinks we dont need him is a fool.
One football for sure, but I was referring to what you said about "Versatility" when I said it would be a big boost to our offense. I love what Holiday brings to the game and would hope he'd be more involved too but (And this is no knock on Holiday) he's no McKnight. He a big plus for us but definitely some limitiations. If "Hurricane" was worried about LaFell at 194, he'll have a fit with Holiday at 5'5, 155 lbs.
EDIT: Holiday is a different type of player, he plays on specific plays only designed to suit him, he doesnt even get hit hardly. But LaFell, I assume he is going to be used as a "full time" reciever is going to be exposed to the hardest hits one can imagine.
I wasnt bashing Joe, he's a great player and a top recruit every school wishes to have on their side. But I was simply saying that on a talent-wise perspective, he is not a MUST to our team, but he is definately a great BOOST!! But from a program prestige wise, Joe is a must because this way we show the nation that top players want to play for LSU.
McKnight seemed (predictably) pretty high on USC when he returned according to his statements but made it clear that he wanted to complete his official visits before deciding/announcing. He also seemed undecided on an official visit to Bama: "I was thinking about going to Alabama, but right now I'm not sure," said McKnight. "I'm going to LSU this week, and then I'll figure out if I feel like going to Alabama. I may just stay home and think about my decision." Seems to me like it will come down to USC or LSU, as it has been predicted all year. We will know after next weekend.
If we have last shot at him, I think we're in good shape. He didn't committ when he got back according to your quote so I like our chances.
