You only have 1 football. The Tigers have so many playmakers it ain't even funny. I think what we would lose is the possibility of having a Reggie Bush type player that gives us versatility in both the running and passing game. But then again we have Trindon Holliday to help out in that regard. And believe me, Crowton will find a way to get him involved a lot more than he was this past season. Crowton is salivating on using a guy like Holliday in our offense.
I guy like McKnoght causes serious matchup problems on the field. He gets called a RB too much, he isn't, he's more of an athlete. All recruits are big yes, but a guy like McKinght is huge becaue he is like getting 3 recruits in one along with the mismatches he wil create. I think a lot of our fans are just resigned to the fact that he is going to end up at USC and try to convince themselves he isn't all that important. I think he is that important and also thing we still have a good shot at seeing him in a white jersey for 90% of his college games.
An LSU fan on another website posted a great line for McKnight: "Hey Mcknight, Go to USC and be the next Reggie Bush. Go to LSU and the first Joe McKnight.":thumb:
McKnight would be a great get. Tremendous all-around athlete, good publicity & precedent for LSU not letting a guy as talented as him get out of state. But we will still have a great class with our without him. He is not a player of dire need, but he's somebody that we would all love to have. Whether he comes here or not will probably not really affect LSU down the road. We're going to be a great program regardless, but a player like Joe could increase national pub & program excitement (if thats possible). If he lives up to the hype (which is not a given), he could be a Heisman candidate in a couple years.
Im as much of a tiger as u are. It is just a reality that we dont REALLY need him on our team, so why get worried if he chooses us or not. Plus, I dont think recruits have that much time on hand to go throughout all forums of potential schools.
I think its bigger on an emotional and status level. McKnight is a very rare athlete, players like him only come around every few years. Even more rare in Louisiana. Since Dinardo and more so $aban LSU has kept the majority of top players that we want in state. It would be a huge loss in that way. McKnight could also bring LSU that Heisman type excitement. If Keiland gets the carries this year that he should have had at the end of the season he might be that player. The thing is with McKnight is he is so dangerous. Everyone loves Hester because of his versatility, McKnight is even more versatile and much more explosive. Nothing against Hester, he is a hard nosed kid who is very consistent. Hester has proven he deserves his touches. Anyways, the difference with McKnight is any play could be a TD. Only Holliday can really boast that playmaking ability, but he lacks the size.
