My question to any University looking for a coach would be hire from within . You have coaches who know the system, may or may not make changes . But if they did it would be ones that the players could understand . Two things would happen . Cost would go down , team play stays at it's level or gets better in a couple of years . Look at the Vols , I do not see The Vols being a better to good team for 4 or 5 years . The fan base will not have that . The guy has maybe 2 season left to become a team that has a chance of beating Bama . It is silly to have two buyouts for a coach . But I am just a guitar picker what do I know . TerryP don't know it, so do not tell him .I follow him around just to read his posts ,
@msully Remember you said this, ok? Look at the SEC east for next year. UT is arguably in better shape at QB than any other team in that division. They are losing five seniors to attrition who were starters—a total of eight out of their two deep. In their rising Jr. class they had as many players seeing action in their two deep as LSU (12?). It was a team fielding more younger players than your Tigers did this past season. The three losses they had in the east for 2014 came by a combined total of 12 points. I don't know if they'll be odds on favorites to win the east next year but they'll certainly be ripe to compete for a spot in ATL.
The buyout was settled for 5 mil in cash and 2 mil for a game in Florida in the future according to the Denver Post.
It's going to add another "Bama" type game on your schedule. By that, I mean it won't be preparing to defend some Wing-T offense or a pass-centric approach ala SOS. I suspect in two years the UT vs UF game will be good football again.
