This. Last few press conferences have been a really bad look for him. Now my fear is Les will go to UM and we wI'll get stuck with this clown. At least miles puts on a show at the presser.
My Gator friends want the Swamp back next season. They said 2 years ago it became Florida's Field and the past 2 years it's known as Chumps Dump. They want to win NOW.
CBSSports.com reporting the buyout is the holdup: Here's the problem with trying to hire a coach who has a $7.5 million buyout worked into his contract: his employer might just expect you to pay that buyout. Despite Florida announcing on Wednesday that it's conversations with Colorado State coach Jim McElwain have been "very productive," it seems the discussions with Colorado State itself haven't been. According to a report from the Orlando Sentinel's Edgar Thompson, negotiations has stalled over Colorado State's refusal to lower McElwain's $7.5 million buyout. A source told the paper that Florida was trying to reduce McElwain's buyout to $3 million but that it's "not gonna happen." This would present a problem for Florida because the school still owes more than $8 million to Will Muschamp and his Florida staff. That means the school would be spending $15.5 million to pay off Muschamp's staff, and to buy out McElwain, a total that doesn't even include the money it would be paying McElwain to coach at Florida, as well as the staff he'd bring with him. That's a lot of money, and honestly I can't blame Colorado State for taking this stance. Florida hasn't exactly tried to keep its plans a secret during this entire process, which gives Colorado State all the leverage in these negotiations. So I think the lesson here is that these things are normally done in a far more secretive manner for a reason. ———— The thought crossed my mind a little while ago that this seems to be going a lot like their search did back in 2002 when Foley was having "productive meetings" at Bob Stoops house.
Reports here say Foley offered 3 mil and a home & home series w/ the Gators. Apparently the CSU president said no thanks, $7.5 mil please. Foley is back in Florida without a HC.
CSU's obstinacy over the buyout could come back to bite them in the ass when the try to hire their next coach who will likely see the job as a steppingstone
