When does Florida fire Muschamp? Apparently today.

7.5 mil buyout would be a deal-breaker, I would think.

Does it matter if Forde looks it up or not? It appears that Florida has talked to McElwain about the job. Surely they can look it up too. So why even talk to the man if the buyout is a deal breaker?

they'll negotiate it down either way. colo st can be bought like a 10 dollar hooker once FU flashes a few bills.

K, working in the media so many years I've developed a dislike for things like this; they grate on my nerves. I consider it lazy work. It's not like Forde to forego doing his own research which is the reason I said it was odd.

I'd heard, like you, he was in consideration for the UF job. I'd known for awhile that Foley liked Freeze. I mentioned the buyout when you first mentioned his name (CJM) because I thought it may be something they'd weigh in their decision: I'm sure they still will. While Forde didn't mention it would be considered I've seen a handful of other writers bring it up with the question, "will UF pony up that kind of money?"

Why talk to the man if the buyout is a deal breaker? I've not suggested it to be a deal breaker. I've suggested it is something they would likely consider. Being in a position where they can afford to pay the buyout would lead them to interview. That interview would likely define whether or not they will.

That said...when I heard over the weekend he'd talked to Foley I wanted to see the language in the contract...found it, and posted it here because that last paragraph is relevant.

Wasn't a good head coach. (I'm still debating how good of an assistant coach he is...does real well on the recruiting trail.) @LaSalleAve made mention of Jimbo as being the only successful coach from his "coaching tree."

Flops: We have Muschamp, Williams, and Dooley.

I'd say the jury is still out when it comes to McElwain. He's been a good fit at Colorado State but a move to a school like UF? A completely different test of his coaching acumen. He's very well organized and pays attention to details much like Saban. I'd imagine a lot of the policies/procedures in place at UF are similar (Mac and Boom) considering their backgrounds. It's my opinion that the transition would be smoother with Mac versus a style change in Freeze.

While they haven't reached the head coach level yet there are two other guys that have been "interesting." Geez. I can't think of the guys name. He's the OC in Philly now. He didn't do well with the Browns (?) and there's no way to judge how well he's doing especially considering it's Kelly's system. HE's one.

McDaniels, currently with NE, looks like he's got a promising future. (Only reason I know his name is it was mentioned yesterday during the GB vs NE game.)

Dooley may be considered a flop b/c of his stint at UT, but I think he could still be a good coach somewhere big down the road. That was a tough gig, esp. at the time he took over that program. Any idea if he is still coaching? He had a law degree, so he had options.

Dooley is in the Pro's now. He may dip back into college, you never know. Dooley is the WR coach in Dallas.

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels will have a shot, but it might be back as a NFL head Coach. There will be a few jobs open in the NFL, he has been the HC at Denver, spent time with the Rams, but most of his time has been with the Pats. Fla could be a stop for him.

You may be right. I tend to doubt it based not only on his stint at UT, but his losing record at La Tech. It was an odd hire in the first place for those in Knoxville.

And before Pat Bowlen died, he said that was his biggest regret as the Broncos owner.
