Next year, they will be back in the same spot, Mullen or not. This was his perfect storm. MooU's biggest wins, LSU and barn, not a great resume right now. Back to Fla, talk about hard head, the higher ups there. Mullen didn't get a call last time, he will want them to crawl to Starkvegas. Everyone wants to coach at Fla, they will have a list, choose wisely. I made a list from the 70's on, SOS and Cryer were the best hires since that time. A list of 6 coaches failed at Fla. 40+ years and only 2 coaches to show. LSU has a better record than that.
The SEC West is as strong this year as it's ever been. He has one loss, on the road by 5 points, to the team that many think is the best in the nation. Perfect storm or not that's breaking waaaay through the glass ceiling at Moo U, as in NEVER been done before. Mullen deserves some credit.
IF it ends up being a coach from the state of Mississippi, it'll be Freeze getting an interview long before Mullen. Foley likes Freeze.
He's had a good season. No doubt. But this perfect storm has to have context. Taking one measurement, that of Phil Steele's returning experience chart, MSU was listed in the top five going into this season. (By comparison, LSU was listed @100th +) It's a team loaded with upperclassmen.
At a place known as a coaches grave yard. How do recruit anyone to Moo U. Say what you want I think some are selling him short. Not saying he's great, but he ain't bad either.
Directly? Or, after another stop? Ironically, the last one we've seen was from Ole Miss (sans the pine box.) All I can say is what I was told by one of the larger UF sports sites and that was how much Foley likes Freeze. What I'd like to see is if Freeze can have the same success on the recruiting trail without the help of the "tire man" like he's enjoyed in Oxford.
