"...could have won..." "...hopefully won..." Two drives for LSU in that game for scores with the most impressive being the 90+ yards at the end of the 1st / beginning of the second. IF that call is overturned, you're looking at the offense going without Scott and Jefferson and it's all on Lee. In my opinion, based on what we saw during that era, the chances of LSU driving 70 or so yards for a game ending score aren't high. It's is what it is... Like I said—or hinted around—earlier, there are bad or missed calls no matter who you are or which conference you play within. Every team has either benefitted from them, or considered themselves a victim. In the end, if teams had made plays earlier in the game these calls wouldn't be pointed to as reasons a loss was recorded. Whether we're looking at 2004 or 2009 there were other plays equally as important. Fans who want to play the victim card in losses? In my eyes, no matter who they root for, they leave a lot to be desired in terms of a fan who want to be the best and beat the best.
Like I said--or hinted around--earlier, it's not whether that was the difference in the game or not. It's the fact that the officials INTENTIONALLY made sure that Bama won that is the problem. There is not a single person on the planet, that is not a Bama fan, that isn't 100% positive that Peterson made the interception. There is no way possible that a non partial replay official wouldn't rule it an interception. It was an intentional wrong call. You are right, fans of any team can point out bad calls against their team in any game. However it is an extremely rare occurance that such an obviously blatant wrong call is made on national TV. And not just a wrong call but a potential intentional game fixer. After that call there was no doubt Bama was going to win no matter what happened on the field, the officials would make sure of that. Bama probably would have won without the officials, but we will never know because the fix was in. The Peterson call more than proves that.
@TwistedTiger I appreciate your offering your opinion; your two cents worth, if you will. That said, when I see "potential intentional game fixer" and the like I feel I at least owe you change back.
The gump in him will not allow him to see the truth. Even if he did betray the garden gnome, the other gump kind would meter out their justice on him.
