When do we make them fear us?

OK, this is a rant. But it isn't just because we lost this game, so please stay with me.

I have followed the Tigers since 1985. In that time, no one has ever really feared us. When do we change that?

I was camping with my son and didn't see the game. As soon as I got back into Montgomery, I turn on the radio and the first knuckle-head I hear starts up with the "Tiger Stadium is over-rated" theme I constantly hear here. I am always having to defend against the "Les Miles is an idiot" comments. When will we ever have a team that scared the crap out of everyone?

Don't give me 2003--people everywhere kept saying we didn't deserve to be in the NC game, until we won it. Don't give me 2007--we were lucky to be there, until we won it. Both of those teams are pointed to as proof that the BCS doesn't work, rather than an affirmation of what everyone knew all along. No one outside of Louisiana believes that we win either of those games if they are not in the Superdome.

Does anyone have any belief that, if the roles were reversed and LSU was on the road with an injured QB, anyone would have given them any chance to win? Yet back in the 90's, Steve Spurrier coached a UF team to a win against FSU with Jesse Palmer and Noah Brindise alternating snaps. NOAH BRINDISE!!!! Are you kidding me? When will we have a coach that earns that kind of respect? (and no, Saban didn't have it here either.)

How come we let coaches get away with the "it's a tough place to play, but if you get up on them they shut up" non-sense. Guess what, that's true of every where--anyone remember the vaunted Swamp during the 2002 game? But have we ever been a team that jumps on an opponent and gives them the "brook trout look"? The Va Tech game is the only example I can think of in 24 years. Under Stoops, it happens in Norman every week.

Why can a place like Alabama have doofus coaches (Mike Dubose, Mike Shula, Dennis Franchione, take your pick) and still win 10 games and SEC titles, but when we get a coach that can win consistently, we still have to defend him from people who think he is a doofus? After all, if you have followed the Tigers as long as I have, you know what a real doofus coach looks like (see: Hallman, Hudson).

When Florida under Spurrier hosted top-5 teams, like Tennessee with Manning, the blew their doors off. And then they would do it on the road the next season. Meyer almost has the Gators there again. When are our opponents going to resign a loss to us before the season?

Can LSU get there? Are we at the end of this golden era we have been enjoying? Are we about to turn into Wisconsin, where the most noticable thing is how the fans dance in the 4th quarter?

I don't know the answers to these questions. All I know is that until we find them, we really haven't been to the real mountain top.

    Any suggestions?

No rivals like LSU lately because of what happened after Dinardo...under Saban and Miles...It's just plain lonely at the top !!!:).

Leave Alabama now and get a therapist. Move to Texas where LSU is superior to anything in the Big 12. I feel like a king here. You see, it is all relative. Enjoy the great game of CFB, my man.

Uncle Sugar won't let me leave until at least next year.

Blowing the doors off Auburn would be plenty of therapy for me.
