must be lots of uncertainty given the rumblings concerning fulmer earlier this year but you would think that tennessee kids would want to play in neyland stadium.
Nick Saban is what happened to Tennessee in-state recruiting. Alabama has commits from 4 of the Top 10 in the state I believe. Not positive on that 4 number but its just as many or more then UT.
I'm thinking the same as well. Then again, who knows? I haven't followed UT's situation in terms of who they bring back next season--I know Crompton will be the QB and he's got good experience and is pretty darn good so perhaps this year is the Vols "down year" for recruiting??? UT's kinda like Auburn. They might not always get top 5 recruiting classes, but they always seem to make good with the guys they do get.
The state of Tennessee does not produce large number of top level college prospects. UT has always recruited heavily in Phoenix and on the west coast, in South Carolina and in the Pennsylvania area. The resurgence of programs in those areas have done as much to hurt Tennessee recruiting as anything else.
Bingo! When the NCAA changed that rule a couple of years ago it put a damper on their recruiting efforts. A lot of those kids that had UT on their radar can't afford to take a plane trip on their own expense account. The coaching turmoil hasn't helped that situation very much either.
Why Tennessee does not recruit more in the South I don't know. That's where most of the top prospects are. If a school can recruit well south of the Mason-Dixon Line, it does not have to worry about recruiting nationally.
