It just the first game so I wouldn't worry. He is a freak athlete that will have to overcome some things to be a great QB. However, he has TONS of time to do that and I would suspect that he will improve on a weekley basis.
I wouldn't say terrible. It seems he didn't run much at all. I remember them going to a more pass first offense. Russell Shepard 13/23 56.52% 239yds 1td 1int http://www.chron.com/sports/highsch...e&Sport=1&ID=19232&TeamID=80&SearchType=Teams
Passing not too bad first outing but 12 yards on 16 carries probably means they were well prepared for the run. Stats look like a pretty competitive game.
His HC switched the Offense to a passing-oriented scheme. You're going to have major learning curve with HS players. He'll get it going, Plus Humble has a really good team, and the coach loaded the box to stop the Runs.
As a poster pointed out before, his Oline really did him no favors. I can't say his receivers ran very good routes either. His passes were bullets, no floaters. He is going to be great at LSU. Be thankful they are passing more and don't sweat his stats this year. Running less means a smaller chance he gets hurt. Very exciting guy to watch.
his stats werent too bad, but the only play that stood out was his pass to i think lipscomb. it was a bad pass that lipscomb went up and got then turned into a td
