Can't help but wonder if the Fairley arbitration saga plays into this. Given Breaux's neck history, the Saints might not want to gamble on that if the potential exists that they wind up owing Fairley the balance of his deal.
I think it was more about a money. Saints wouldn't beat the Packers offer. If the dollars were the same why wouldn't he be in NOLA? Warm weather city playing indoors for a superbowl contender vs playing outside in the frozen tundra for a rebuilding team.
I'm torn on our free agency so far. Obviously we probably won't get any big names but we've been burned in free agency in the past. If we could have another draft like we had last year then we'd be fine. After years of bad drafting it's hard to say I trust the Saints. Then again in the Mickey Loomis Sean Payton era we've had the greatest drafts ( yes, that's plural) in franchise history.
Is Bennie Logan an unrestricted free agent this year? He might be a good replacement for Fairley. (Pssst....Loomis)
