I am a bit confused. I thought Chavis to LSU was not official yet. Guilbeau makes it sound like a done deal. Before and during bowl preparations, Miles researched and spoke to former Tennessee defensive coordinator John Chavis about joining his staff. Chavis accepted the job. Chavis is yet another excellent hire by Miles. First, he convinced offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher to stay when Miles first got the LSU job in 2005. Then he went out and got one of the best and brightest defensive coordinators in the country in Bo Pelini. Then two seasons later when Fisher left, he found one of the top offensive coordinators in the country in Gary Crowton. In Chavis, Miles has tapped one of the best defensive coordinators in the country who is also an SEC expert. Chavis could well end up as Miles' best hire yet. Possibley meaning he accepted the job in principle but has yet to sign the paper work, thus making it official.
I would think CLM would want to announce in case any defensive recruits are still on the fence. Interesting that he hasn't yet.
I am fairly certain he has signed on the dotted line by now. We're just trying to fill out the staff with the D-line and DB coach, and as soon as that's done, Les will hold a presser more than likely. I expect we will hear something from the Athletic department by the mid part of this coming week.

Props to CLM for getting the Chief; he's from Carolina and Clemson wanted him bad. Money talks. Treat him right, he's a good guy and we have nothing but fond memories of his work up here.
